Heres a great thread done this week by thomas Wictor that shows our countrys new ways of fighting wars especially in the mid east. Its huge news and no one is covering it at all:its below:

Thread by @ThomasWictor: “@HeshmatAlavi (1) As always, there’s no mention of the Gulf Cooperation Council. This tells me what will happen. wsj.com/articles/the-s… @He […]” #RegimeChange

mentions (1) As always, there’s no mention of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

This tells me what will happen.

The Saudis Reply to Iran’s Rising Danger
In The Wall Street Journal, Sohrab Ahmari interviews Anwar Eshki about the response of Saudi Arabia to the rising threat from Iran in the Middle East.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-saudis-reply-to-irans-rising-danger-1440197120
mentions (2) As powerful as the US is, @realDonaldTrump is doing as MIDDLE EASTERNERS ask.

So in a very real sense, the US doesn’t have a say in what will happen.

We will HELP, but there’s no way that Trump will “take charge.”
mentions (3) After Trump became president, the Pentagon called him with a request by an America officer in Syria who wanted permission to advance.

“Who is this officer?” Trump asked.

“He’s a West Point graduate with several years’ combat experience in the Middle East.”
mentions (4) Trump told the Pentagon, “So why do you think I know better than this combat veteran on the ground, who’s seeing what’s happening around him? Tell him he needs to do what he thinks is best and not worry about me.”
mentions (5) Trump knows that Middle Easterners are on the ground, seeing what’s going on around them.

It’s very likely that Trump WILL meet with the mullahs’ representatives.

If he does, he will tell them what Iranians and other Middle Easterners ask him to say.
mentions (6) James Mattis said that he doesn’t do anything in the Middle East without consulting with the defense ministers of allied countries.

My guess is that everything is now UNDERSTOOD, so when Mattis gives an order, he knows that our allies will approve.
mentions (7) The Foreign Policy article makes now mention of the horrible brutality of the mullahs.

Now, you and I have never spoken about your feelings toward other Middle Easterners, and I see no reason why we SHOULD speak about it.

BUT.
mentions (8) I’ve studied Mohammed bin Salman daily since March of 2015.

I would bet my house that his main motivation is justice for the oppressed.

Like Trump, he’s a rare billionaire who uses his wealth and power to improve the lives of others.
mentions (9) I don’t see the GCC agreeing to let the mullahs stay, under any circumstances.

The mullahs have caused too much suffering.

If you listen to the Saudis, they carefully say they’re willing to be friends with IRAN.

They never say that they’re willing to accept the mullahs.
mentions (10) I never tell people how to think, and I don’t demand that people agree with me.

But I’m positive that the GCC is not interested in dominating Iran, and that after the mullahs are gone, tons of Arab businesses will instantly invest in Iran.
mentions (11) People paint this as Sunni-Shia conflict, but if you look at the speed in which Saudi Arabia is reforming, it shows that the country is not the rigid, fanatical place described by the press.
mentions (12) The main problem with the Middle East is westerners giving orders.

When that happens, it conjures up centuries of abuse.

As for Putin, he appears to be out of gas.

He’ll playact any role that gives him international prestige.
mentions (13) So even if Trump has some form of meeting with the mullahs’ people, that doesn’t mean the uprising will stop.

If you study military issues, you can see that MASSIVE damage has been done to the IRGC and Hezbollah and the Houthis.
mentions (14) I seriously doubt that after all that effort, the mullahs will stay in power.

EVERYTHING is pointing toward #RegimeChange—but not brought about by the US.

Bolton is telling the truth that it’s not OUR policy to overthrow the mullahs.
mentions (15) But the Saudis have said in plain language since 2015 that the mullahs will go.

When #RegimeChange happens, it will take us all by surprise.

Everything I’ve seen in the Middle East since 2015 has no antecedent.

Nobody has EVER DONE THIS STUFF BEFORE.
mentions (16) So my guess is the Trump will follow the script laid out in Foreign Policy, but the Iranian people will get their #RegimeChange anyway...

This post is very interesting and informative. Thanks for it!

However, what’s with the numbers, like (1), (2), imbedded in the text?

It is distracting. Feels like I should be looking for a footnote somewhere...
