I admire Bill Donovan, and IMHO, his role in our victory during WWII is largely overlooked. That said, he was really, in many ways, a 19th Century man, and his insistence on recruiting heavily from the ivy leagues was largely responsible for the infiltration of our intelligence apparatus by the left that lingers to this date.
The Ivies changed a lot between the the time he graduated from Columbia and 1940, and not for the better, and I think his idealism may have caused him to be blind-sided.
Columbia ... home of the Frankfurt School ....
I read a book back at university that the code breakers for the US Navy were MOStly volunteers from Brown, Harvard, MIT, Yale etc. Nowadays, you have to threaten these snowflakes to work for the Trump govt...
“The Ivies changed a lot between the the time he graduated from Columbia and 1940”
Yep.
Harvard doesn’t produce men like Robert Gould Shaw anymore.
Here’s the Harvard that no longer exists except in stained glass windows. These were heroic and God-fearing men:
The Memorial Transept Lowell Hall
This memorial space boasts a 2,600 square foot marble floor, a sixty foot high wooden gothic vault, two stained glass windows spanning 708 square feet each, black walnut paneling, stenciled walls and 28 white marble tablets bearing the names of 136 Harvard associates who fell on behalf of the Union cause during the Civil War.

Check it out. If Harvard continues on its present course, I believe that one day the Marxists will call this memorial to the best of Harvard as racists.
