Doing Business Jim Quinn“Quinn & Rose” will ride again in Pittsburgh, this time on iHeart’s sports “ESPN Pittsburgh” WBGG/970, its translator at 106.3 and the HD2 signal of sister country “Big 104.7” WPGB. No announcement yet from the station, but Jim Quinn said yesterday on his own syndicated show that he and former Pittsburgh radio partner Rose Somma-Tennant will be heard on WBGG from 8am to 10am weekdays, starting September 24. Sounds like “ESPN Pittsburgh” is picking up part of Quinn’s existing show, now with the addition of “Rose.” Jim Quinn’s worked in Pittsburgh at top 40 KQV (including when Rush Limbaugh was a jock there as “Jeff Christie), “13Q” WKTQ, WTAE, “B94,” WRRK (where he morphed into a conservative talker) and then WPGB (before it went country). He and WPGB split in 2013. “Quinn & Rose” also aired on XM Satellite Radio. Jim self-syndicated a morning show beginning in 2015, while Rose worked at Salem’s talk “1250 the Answer” WPGP in Pittsburgh. She left earlier this year to work for some political campaigns. Both she and Quinn have been heard (separately) on Rochester, NY-area talker WYSL/1040.

Someone on a radio board wondered if this is a sign of a format change for 970. Don’t know but maybe iHeart puts its Premiere talkers on 970 and WJAS could then do ESPN? While WJAS is owned by Frank Iorio their studios are in the iHeart bldg in GreenTree ...they came along to do talk when it got dumped by 104.7 and perhaps they can do this...who knows
106.3 cat country in Indiana pa blasts in a lot of counties can’t hear 970 on 106.3
For what it’s worth WBGG has a far superior signal to WJAS.
Driving in the South Hills during the day Rush Limbaugh is barely audible. Don’t know why, but their signal has had problems ever since the transmitter moved to Highland Park.
