Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen plans to plead guilty Tuesday in connection with the financial fraud investigation against him as part of a deal with prosecutors that includes jail time, Fox News has learned.

A source familiar with the deal told Fox News that it includes a guilty plea and jail time of between three and five years. The deal does not involve a cooperation agreement with federal prosecutors.

The most critical part:

“The deal does not involve a cooperation agreement with federal prosecutors.”

Good.

No cooperation agreement.

He must not have had anything the prosecutors wanted.

But a guilty plea for misrepresenting the value of his assets to obtain bank loans.

Everyone in America take note: Make CERTAIN your mortgage broker does not “adjust” your application for mortgage. It could land you in federal prison.

““The deal does not involve a cooperation agreement with federal prosecutors.””

I don’t think that ship has quite sailed, or at least can return to port.

Just might mean there is no specific quid pro quo. Cohen may well have cooperated.

They just reported on FBN that Cohen told the court he violated campaign finance laws at the direction of "a candidate."

Without naming names, the implication is obvious.

Check that guilty plea says he broke campaign law at direction of candidate. Not good.

Sad that we can have a prosecutor that can go willy nilly through the records of an individual citizen just trying to get something on the President. Had they not been fishing they would have found nothing. Instead he will get three years of jail time while MS-13 gang members and criminal illegals are running free.

So much for justice in these United States.

So then Trump will say he didn’t.

Next move is...nothing

“Had they not been fishing they would have found nothing.”

The prosecutor did not go fishing, they went hunting, and targeted their prey.

Targeted Cohen only because he had at one time worked for Trump.

Fishing in random.

Hunting is not.

Like what?

Trump could say he told Cohen to pay with personal and not campaign funds. Something Guiliani had already claimed weeks ago.

They went fishing.

They had no knowledge at all that any impropriety had occurred. They just drummed up charges and went digging through all the records until they could find something to charge Cohen with.

There are none of us who are not guilty of breaking some law. Even to the point of “lying” to the attorney if we misremember a date.

It’s not illegal to use your own money to pay someone to go away, and leave you alone. And since money is fungible, and Trump has many orders of magnitude more money than needed to fund the payment made to Daniels, the claim that the payment was from “campaign funds” would never stand up in court, no matter what Cohen was extorted into “admitting” as part of a plea deal. It’s ridiculous on its face (although it might not be, in the case of a much poorer candidate.) Bottom line: Peter’s plea of “guilty” to helping Paul do “X” does not prove that Paul did “X,” nor that “X” was illegal. It only proves that Peter thinks he’s better off with a lighter sentence.

They couldn’t get Edwards for doing the same thing. They won’t even TRY to get Trump for it. They already got what they wanted, the ability for a friendly democrat to say “Trump knew” on the campaign trail.
