SAN DIEGO — Rep. Duncan Hunter and wife, Margaret, were indicted Tuesday on charges related to the misuse of $250,000 worth of campaign funds for personal expenses and the filing of false campaign finance records.

The charges of wire fraud, falsifying records, campaign finance violations and conspiracy were the culmination of a Department of Justice investigation that has stretched for more than a year, during which the Republican congressman from California has maintained his innocence.

Any Republican officeholder can’t be too careful. He must stay away from any grey areas of the law, especially those bearing on campaign finance and office related expenses.

Today has been quite a day and I’ve said this so much today I’m a broken record...but: The Deep State Left has absolute, total control of the American legal system. Total control. When you have total control of a battlefield, that’s the battlefield you fight on. They can’t lose on this battlefield - they own it. That’s why they use it.

I guess if I want to get philosophical - this is the big issue with the Trump Revolution, it is like a hostile takeover of company. Except in this case, the trump card, if you will, is not economic might but control of the decision-rendering institutions of government. A revolution from the inside is what Trump has attempted.

But revolutions from the inside - particularly ones where the institutions are controlled by the enemy - cannot be successful at the level of a national government.

The Deep State Left owns the American legal system and the judicial system with almost complete control. A soft revolution cannot succeed in that environment. We have the military and most of the rank and file of law enforcement. If this were a shooting war, we’d win in rout. But Trump’s revolution wasn’t a traditional shooting revolution, so his biggest power is on the sidelines. And on the battlefield that this fight is happening in - we are getting our clock cleaned because the enemy controls the field and everything in it.

While I hope he’s not done anything wrong, I don’t believe that is the case. As he has already paid back $65,000 since the investigation started and there’s still an outstanding $25,000 it seems he’s not been monitoring the Campaign funds. It’s on his Campaign credit card, for Pete’s sake. It’s not like a couple of hundred Campaign staffers would have those cards. Sheesh. I don’t fault the Democrats for going after him and going after him so quickly. I fault he and his wife for giving the Democrats the cause and ability to go after him. Yes, I am extremely angry the other side’s getting away with IRS abuse, Assaults, Monetary Fraud and so forth; doesn’t mean our side should partake in those actions.

Meanwhile, Hillary walks free as a bird.

At some point it must be Republicans who will answer for this. The GOP holds all the power and their refusal to put up even the slightest fight is endlessly frustrating.

It is as if the biggest, strongest kid on the block just stands there whimpering, sobbing, doing nothing as the littlest pipsqueak repeatedly kicks him in the shins.

I live in the adjoining district. Duncan Hunter Jr. is a dirt bag and a drunk. His misuse of campaign funds has been all over the San Diego County media for years. The a**hole should not be on the ballot.

Good post...The rabid left are in complete control of our 4 trillion dollar corrupt stasi state, corrupt courts, and fake stream media. Much of the republican party genuflects to the corrupt state and fakestream media.

“There was wrong campaign spending, but it was not done by me,” Hunter told a San Diego television station, earlier this year.

“His comments have cast blame on his wife and former campaign manager, Margaret Hunter, who also made charges on the campaign credit card.”

Looks like Rep. Hunter has been a man and taken responsibility.

Everyday a new revelation and everyday a new low for our government of the people by the people...not!

I am sickened by how naïve I was.

Interesting how Jeff Sessions’s Department of Justice has managed to bring charges in THIS case while ignoring or dismissing so many others...

“Duncan Hunter Jr. is a dirt bag and a drunk.”

Why do have so much difficulty expressing yourself and letting people know how your really feel?

Why hold back, why be bashful, why not let loose and tell us what you think of Rep. Hunter?

I’ve heard that from a former congressman as well.

Despite being nominated for sainthood by a former FReeper, he’s considered to be a jerk personally and my guess is that he’s dirty or this would have been handled in a non-criminal way. We wanted a “law and order” administration and for the corruption to end, so we can’t complain when that’s exactly what we get.

Please don’t use the “Nancy Pelosi (or whomever) is worse” argument. Conservative Republicans demand more of our politicians. That they don’t deliver is the only reason the US has not been saved by our agenda.
