Rep. Duncan Hunter and his wife indicted in use of campaign funds for personal expenses

Rep. Duncan Hunter and his wife, Margaret, were indicted Tuesday on charges related to the misuse of $250,000 worth of campaign funds for personal expenses and the filing of false campaign finance records.

The charges of wire fraud, falsifying records, campaign finance violations and conspiracy were the culmination of a Department of Justice investigation that has stretched for more than a year, during which the Republican congressman from California has maintained his innocence.

Republican Party leaders had long worried that with a potential indictment looming, Hunter's traditionally safe district which makes up much of eastern San Diego County could be at risk of Democratic takeover in November's midterm election.

Can you prove that? No. So why write it or are you trying to excuse stealing. That answer is yes and is shameful.

“He was never in the campaign, nor did he use campaign funds.”

Doesn’t have to be actual campaign money. It can be anything that has value with the intent on helping the campaign or candidate. Paying hush money, even if it is one’s own funds, is a contribution in kind and must be reported.

Don’t see it that way. They threatened Cohen 30 charges of bank fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to conspire with conspirators for bank fraud, which accounts for a possible maximum of 100,000 years in jail. Then, Hillary’s buddy Lanny Davis saunters in and says, “Plead guilty to a few, and add this charge that you made payments, and it all goes away.”

The point NO ONE PICKED UP IN THE INDICTMENT is that Stormy was about to receive another payment from “another outlet” before Cohen paid off. 10 to 1 that’s David Brock and Media Matters, who probably was going to pay her a lot less, since it was consensual and not very scandalous.

Give it 48 hours and see if you don’t start catching wind about David Brock, and then watch all talk of this disappear.

GOPers all too often fail to grasp the undeniable fact that they’re not given the pass to fly above the reach of the justice system like dems are. For some damned reason, they think they’re the rare case that slides by unnoticed. They just don’t learn.

I don’t see where you get your info. The feds were always interested in determining if Cohen broke federal election laws. I have to really wonder about some of the people President Trump has associated with. He has known and worked with Cohen for years. He selected Sessions to be AG and Rosenstein to be Deputy AG. He selected Wray to be Director of the FBI and selected Geoffrey S. Berman to be the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York who recused himself from the Cohen raid and prosecution.

And yet hillary has hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign governments sent to the Foundation and she walks free.

McGoo again.

How is it possible to think even for a second, until proven otherwise, that the charges are legitimate?

Given what we know?

Wouldn’t it be stupid to assume the DOJ is pursuing justice? Until proven otherwise?

I and Levin see it this way.

“Mark Levin: “Donald Trump Is in the Clear” - Cohen Hush Money IS NOT In Kind Campaign Contribution “

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBW17_QJNYY

It’s only a plea bargain and nothing else, which was to make the DOJ/Mueller and Lanny Davis happy here for political purposes. No adjudication happened here.

Under Federal campaign laws “campaign expenditure is solely for campaign activity.”

The nondisclosure agreement paying money wasn’t the result of the campaign. The “campaign” being Trump’s presidential election campaign.

“No campaign funds were used in the transaction.”
Okay well if that’s true then why is he guilty of campaign finance fraud and what would Trumps exposure be?

Cohen claims that the payoff made from his personal funds was effectively a contribution by him to the campaign and the amount exceeds the contribution limit in the law. This is ridiculous as he made the payments not to the campaign but directly to the women. I suspect he's been pushed to claim that Trump asked him to pay the women and thereby is complicit in the illegal campaign contribution. That would only be credible if he can show that Trump knew in advance, or directed him, to consider this a campaign contribution. But since the campaign never saw the money, this is an absurd argument that should go nowhere.

The judge who accepted Cohen’s guilty plea apparently doesn’t agree with you or Levin.

It’s not only Levin. Levin today on his radio show had the former chairman of the Federal Election Commission who is in agreement with Levin on this issue of the law. Who to believe an expert witness who was the head of the FEC speaking about this very basic FEC rule, or some NY judge who really doesn’t know?

The issue is that both issues predated the campaign by years. It has nothing to do with the campaign because the issue goes back to like 2006 or something.
