Rep. Duncan Hunter and his wife indicted in use of campaign funds for personal expenses

Rep. Duncan Hunter and his wife, Margaret, were indicted Tuesday on charges related to the misuse of $250,000 worth of campaign funds for personal expenses and the filing of false campaign finance records.

The charges of wire fraud, falsifying records, campaign finance violations and conspiracy were the culmination of a Department of Justice investigation that has stretched for more than a year, during which the Republican congressman from California has maintained his innocence.

Republican Party leaders had long worried that with a potential indictment looming, Hunter's traditionally safe district which makes up much of eastern San Diego County could be at risk of Democratic takeover in November's midterm election.

Chris Colins now Duncan Hunter. Trump’s first supporters in Congress. This is Deep State Paul Ryan trying to make sure the democrats take over Congress and impeach the president.

“”Doesn’t he now occupy is father’s congressional seat?””

As I understand it, yes... When his dad ran for president, he didn’t run for reelection in the House when most politicians hang on, campaign for higher office and if they lose, go back to Congress. It should be the way his dad did it - not the way it’s done by the yahoos today.

And one of my big pet peeves is they still draw a salary from the House while campaigning and not on the job. There is a regulation regarding that and their pay is supposed to be docked but that never happens. I have an old report where Kerry/Edwards - you name them - owed thousands of $$$ to the Treasury for salary received when they didn’t show up for congressional business. AS IF I need anything else to fret about!

I am not a big fan of congressional seat inheritance. I don’t care how good the politician or offspring are!

He could have learned some “bad habits’ from Dad!
Different era now, deviance from the “straight & narrow” by a GOP’er and it could be career killing! Let’s hope this stuff is an exaggeration!

I think you’re talking about U. S. Attorneys, not District Attorneys. No U. S. Attorney has ever proven to be worth anything. Look what one did to Scooter Libby. Fitpatrick or Fitzgerald?

Yep - Clinton did fire all the U. S. Attorneys as every president should. Didn’t GWB fire 9 of them and the democrats raised holy ****? I don’t think Trump has gotten rid of a single one or we certainly would have heard about it from the libs and MSM.

“I’m not sure if under Cali’s retard electoral system it is possible Hunter can be replaced on the ballot if he withdraws. “

No, he can’t be removed. He couldn’t be removed even if he died. Hunter says that he is innocent and is going to fight this out, but even if he were to plead guilty and resign, it would behoove every Republican and conservative in CA-50 to vote for Hunter so that he gets reelected and resigns before being sworn in, which would bring on a special election for the term ending on January 3, 2021 (at which a Republican almost certainly would be elected).

...or that’s why you don’t give your campaign account credit card to your wife.

Life lesson #1) make sure your wife’s credit card limit is low.

“n-D Chess from the napping Sessions.”

I am curious about what the notorious Sessions butt-kissers that have peddled over here that n-D chess trope for months are telling now.

I was thinking for a while they must be burying their head deep in the laundry basket out of shame, then I realized they are too dishonest to do such honorable thing.

It’s a lot more than prosecutorial discretion. The problem is there are too many ways to indict a person. It has the effect of allowing prosecutors to fabricate crimes out of thin air. This is a problem with the system of laws and procedural rules.

Old news, local reports I think and scuttle-but on message boards around here four or five years ago.
One of the times the Treasurer warned them it got some local run.
Am I reading into/projecting any of my own experiences into this?

Of course not. Detached, logical analysis..gee you sound just like my ex-wives...

Yes
And very shortly after Clinton got into office the Chinese had missiles pointing to all the major cities in the United States
He sold out America’s security to the Chinese to become president
He should be be in a cell at Gitmo, sharing it with Hillary
They would kill each other

I agree with you I was just saying that this is quiet shocking to (Myself ), I mean I would never ever expect in a million years of someone of his caliber to be caught up in something like this.

I’m nearly immune to shock, I don’t know what that says about me.

But of course it’s possible if not probable that charges are complete BS.

Campaign fiance is no BFD to me, may the donor beware “misuse”. If some rule is violated, levy a fine and move on!
