McConnell and Ryan told Trump if he sacked Sessions he would never get another nominee confirmed to that role. They’ll just go down the org chart and give the “Acting” job to the next guy each time he fires anyone.

That would be a good point, except Donald Trump is the one guy who would be perfectly content to leave executive branch posts vacant rather than leave useless @ssholes in them.

You think DJT is under their thumb? You think Ryan is retiring of his own accord? You think the dirt on Chao is buried? You think POTUS wouldn't call a bluff? I don't believe any of that. If Trump wanted Sessions gone, he'd be gone.

Evidently you don’t know about recess appointments or how The Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998 works. Trump is not at the mercy of McConnell and Ryan.
