It is a very good article. Thanks for posting. The premise totally refutes the erroneous sentiment of the line “Nothing to kill or die for”. People will always find something to kill or die for, even in a ‘one world government’ situation. They will always find something to ‘identify’ themselves as that pits them against those they identify as rivals or enemies. People fight because of sports teams. They fight to humiliate one another, or to try to show superiority of some crazy sort.
Ironically, the one thing that gives hope and promise in the world, and that can lead people to not act on their worst impulsivity, is spirituality and believing that there is a right way and a wrong way to be in the world. That’s contrary to the moral relativism that the liberals who embrace this song believe in.
Good lord....talk about hate just read the replies here..lordy
I think I enjoyed my youth more than most freepers
Course I was a Stones guy
And I was 4-6 years too young for Indochina
Lennon was certainly quite flawed and naive and self obsessed like most creative folks are.....they are emotional by nature
However I liked a lot of his music.....He was definitely the least likable of the bunch but Paul was actually the stingiest if you listen to his Wings band mates
Beatles and Stones were the soundtrack of my life from second grade till middle school and Stones all the way into early adulthood and I still listen to them 3-4 times a week
I dont listen to music because I agree with every utterance of the performer
Some are so egregious I turn them off like Springsteen and Dixie C words
But the Beatles have well produced ....very well actually....music thst I think holds up very nicely
Here Comes the Sun...I honestly turned thst in Napster when I got in the tub this morning and cracked the shades....proper
And Lennons plastic ono band which was just white album part deaux I like too
But yall feel free to kick a murdered dead man and his homely widder
Lennon as a homo I doubt that....
Naive and arrogant for sure
Imagine all the people
Living without hope
Some folks say you're a dreamer
I know I'm not the only one
Too bad you can't join us
'Cause where you are now
Can't be that fun.
Lennon stated: "'Imagine', which says: 'Imagine that there was no more religion, no more country, no more politics,' is virtually the Communist Manifesto, even though I'm not particularly a Communist and I do not belong to any movement."

“Imagine” someone so drugged out as to forget, or possibly not even know of, the 100% SECULAR mass-murders of tens of millions by Hitler, Stalin and Mao.
Yes, identity. The nations are not an amorphous blob. All nations have made mistakes—no exceptions. More than one nation has reformed and dissolved again.
I’m completely grateful for G-d’s unchanging decision on Israel. I’m also grateful for this refuge of my forefathers, though the people of the old country have streamed in to impose their influence again for about 150 years.
Lennon was an “artistic entertainer/musician”, not a philosopher or politician or economist.
That said, I don’t take the “words” too seriously...unless of course you play it backwards :)
My mom hates that song.
