Lindsey Graham and Chuck Grassley Adjust Positions To Support President Trump Firing Jeff Sessions
Conservative Treehouse ^ | August 23, 2018 | Sundance

Posted on 08/23/2018 2:50:32 PM PDT by detective

Earlier today Senator Lindsey Graham provided a pathway for President Trump to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions after the mid-term election. To further bolster this likelihood, Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley affirmed he could now make room for a replacement confirmation in the lame-duck congressional session between the November election and January 2019.

The statement by Senator Graham is a considerable reversal given his prior admonishment that firing AG Sessions would result in “hell to pay”; and further underlines an increasingly visible acceptance by high-profile republicans that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has been an abysmal failure.

Müller will issue the report to his accomplice Rosenstein, who will rubber stamp it and pass it along to the House for impeachment.

Right now, any Mueller report is submitted to Rosenstein, because Sessions is recused on matters related to Russian election tampering.

However, if Sessions is replaced before Mueller issues his report, Mueller will immediately report to the new Attorney General, who will not be recused as Sessions was. Rosenstein loses his acting authority, and the new Attorney General can immediately change Mueller's charter, and control what happens to any report Mueller may produce.

If Mueller leaks the report on his own, his pal Rosenstein won't be in a position to have his back covered.

“Are they starting to suspect that Sessions really IS the Silent Executioner?”

No, he’s one of “them” (a never Trumper), they are beginning to realize that Trump is going to win, and they want to get on the “right side” early so as not to be seen as “switchers.”
From my perspective, the only thing Sessions is “silent about” is taking his morning dump.

AF Sessions can negate and throw out anything that Mueller does without firing him.

I’m guessing Sessions recent comments had something to do with it. The comments about DOJ will never bow to political pressures. Even though Mulehead’s appointment is a political witch hunt. Done under Sessions DOJ. Sessions comments were not even credible.

I think that this may be part of it. But I also think that the congressional Republicans believed that firing Sessions prior to the election would have hurt in the ballot box. Remember that those initial admonitions were early in the summer. It would have provided the MSM with a lot of ammunition to fling in Trump's direction.

Even now, they are talking about an Attorney General replacement AFTER the elections, but prior to the seating of the new Congress.

I wonder whether Sessions was a plant, a deep-stater who endeared himself to the candidate Trump as insurance, should Trump get elected.

It seemed fishy (as in stinking to high heaven) when Sessions recused himself almost immediately after he became AG. It stunk even worse when he allowed the appointments of his acquaintances of the opposite party as special prosecutor and team with almost unlimited resources and no clear purpose for the special prosecution. All the while, AG Sessions has refused to make any movement toward the probable crimes of Clinton-Obama sycophants.

The stench regarding Sessions become more rank each day. Sessions has shown little competence in the job since he was appointed.

Perhaps there’s some collusion that’s come to light between Sessions and the deep state!/

I'm sure the Session's a**-kissers and sycophants on FreeRepublic could set them straight.

How long does he have to work with someone he doesn’t respect when he is the boss? This is nonseny...if you don’t like the President you have job security for the duration of the administration? To answer your question... prison reform... Sessions is being a jerk about it

Trent Lott once said that you can’t change Washington.
I laughed at the time.
But he may end up having the last laugh.

I like Sessions’s position on prison reform - we should lock them up and throw away the key. My idea of prison reform is to put at least half the people convicted of homicide in the ground. That would free up a lot of prison space. The current execution rate is maybe 1% tops in the toughest states.

“Müller will issue the report to his accomplice Rosenstein, who will rubber stamp it and pass it along to the House for impeachment.”

Exactly. Rosenweasel will submit it to Congress with an impeachment recommendation. Bank It. I Love Trump but he was a fool not to fire RR when he used the Comey firing to make Comey’s bff the SC after Trump complied with RR’s recommendation Comey. A total set up.
