Mark Levin gave law professors a lesson on how the law actually works in regards to Michael Cohens plea deal that was announced on Tuesday during an appearance on Fox News Hannity.
I want to help the law professors, the constitutional experts, the criminal defense lawyers, the former prosecutors and of course the professors and I want to help them understand what the law is. The general counsel for the Clinton mob family Lanny Davis, he had his client plead to two counts of criminality that dont exist, Levin began.
Former presidential lawyer Michael Cohen claimed he violated campaign finance law at the direction of President Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. (RELATED: Cohen Says He Violated Campaign Finance Law At Trump Direction)
It is a plea bargain between a prosecutor and criminal. A criminal who doesnt want to spend the rest of his life in prison. That is not precedent. That applies only to that specific case. Nobody cites plea bargains for precedent, he continued. That is number one. Number two, just because a prosecutor says that somebody violated a campaign law doesnt make it so. He is not the judge. He is not the jury. We didnt adjudicate anything.
Levin went on to use an example to illustrate his point that what Cohen alleges Trump did is not illegal.
Say a candidate had said we owe vendors a whole lot of money. We have had disputes with them. But I want you to go ahead and pay them. Im a candidate, I dont want the negative publicity. So he says to the private lawyer, you pay them, Ill reimburse you, get it done. Is that illegal? Its perfectly legal. Yet according to the prosecution of the Southern District of New York, its paid at the direction of the candidate to influence the election. Yes, Mr. Prosecutor, how stupid is your point?
Sounds like was not a very good Lawyer
He’s a good lawyer — for the Clintons and the Democrats.
Take his advice, he’s only try’n to school ya.
What did they have planned for Manafort to plead guilty to ?
Oh and Flynn ,LOL
He pled guily to a non crime. They know what words do...never mind what it means... the slow dummies out there only heard the word “guilty”.
they know how to do this.. and the media carries their water and lies to the people. It’s been explained and explained.. but they only use the one word..GUILTY .. and run with it .. they exagerate, they lie, they guess.. they have what they wanted.. one word to use against Trump.
Iswear I’d be so angry if it were me... I’d fire that little squirt who parades as some holier than thou, taking control of the Justice dept... if it’s him who is doing the justice dept.. then there is every reason to fire him! and don’t wait until after Nov.. it may be too late.
It was commented on a post ... that sessions could be that insurance they talked about in those text messages. sessions sure set up Trump for all this. . I’d have the pleasure of seeing him out the door!
so everyone they flip will plead guilty to a different thing and then they connect them all to Trump
“he had his client plead to two counts of criminality that dont exist”
Which is why Davis should be disbarred for this.
He conned his “client” into copping to something that he knew was not a crime because he wanted to help his real clients - the Clintons - get over on Trump.
Cohen the Scared Rabbit apparently is too stupid to figure this out.
Mueller may have top creds in his portfolio, but he immersed himself in an ugly DC culture that compromised his integrity. He has become brainwashed, a scarecrow without any brain, mindless, a cyborg programmed for political assassin and an useful stooge for the Tribal elite. I hope he finds himself in the quicksand of the swamp without a lifeline.
One thing that no demonic force can terminate is our resolve for the republic under liberty and the sovereignty of the individual.
Wouldn’t it be a hoot if Cohen wises up and withdraws his guilty plea?
Don’t worry, if the going gets tough, Mark will just swap out his position here about six weeks prior.
He fights; make a great AG, too.
he had his client plead to two counts of criminality that dont exist
Yes, to get a far lighter sentence for the tax violations.
Davis did a good job for his client Cohen.
It’s not Trump’s fault that Cohen didn’t make the requested payment in an undoubtedly completely legal matter.
Davis did a good job for his client Cohen.
The Prosecution and Lanny work for Hillary
“What did they have planned for Manafort to plead guilty to ?”
Manafort did not roll over for Mueller so they will now put him in jail for years. The real hell of it is Manafort had no dirt on Trump. The only way he could hurt Trump is if he made up lies at the direction of Mueller.
Our judicary is totally corrupt. I still wonder if Jeff Sessions is not the insurance policy?
The reason why he plead guilty to a nonexistent crime is probably what no member of the bar will ever discuss. Lawyers know, but will never admit publicly, that juries in certain jurisdictions will convict Republicans and wealthy white men at the drop of a feather. They don’t care about the facts. So all Mueller had to do was to threaten to indict him for ANYTHING, and he would have been convicted. In exchange for not doing this, he had to admit to whatever “offense” would give the Democrats the most ammo.
Cohen is not stupid. He got the sentences on the other charges reduce greatly in exchange. Notice the difference between the sentencing pursued for Manafort and the greatly reduced penalties for Cohen.
What I don't understand is why the BAR association is not going after Cohen's license after he provided tape recordings to the media which should have been under the blanket of attorney-client priviledge. That implies that Cohen got advanced clearance from the BAR association giving him a get-out-of-jail-free card for such unethical behavior. Deep State runs DEEP!
