The Manhattan district attorney’s office is considering pursuing criminal charges against the Trump Organization and two senior company officials in connection with Michael D. Cohen’s hush money payment to an adult film actress, according to two officials with knowledge of the matter.

A state investigation would center on how the company accounted for its reimbursement to Mr. Cohen for the $130,000 he paid to the actress, Stephanie Clifford, who has said she had an affair with President Trump, the officials s

Attn, Left: you aren’t going to “get” Trump on some bogus nonsense like an overdue library book. If you think there won’t be repercussions, or if you think they would be worth it, think again.

Trump paid the money (his own account)? It was recorded as a legal fee. Was it a tax deduction? Then they are going to charge him for it not being a legal fee? Fraud? Tax evasion?

If I'm understanding correctly the claim is that it was paid by the corporation which treated it as an expense that reduced corporate income for tax purposes. The problem I would think would be is that for a private company like The Trump Organization how can you separate Trump's income from the company's? And unless Trump deducted it then how do you prove fraud?

” The long knives will now begin carving up his Business and family, in state court where he has no pardon power.”

President Trump could then Federalize Manhattan, New York City or the entire State of New York, and then grant pardons.

The New York Times is running this stoy “for the principal purpose of influencing the election.” They have committed a campaign finance violation!

I disagree, Trump is not on the way out. However I agree he needs to fire Sessions immediately. He should have fired him long time ago and I said it back then also. As soon as Sessions said he recused himself from anything Russia or Hillary I knew he had no intention of ever prosecuting anyone from the Obama regime. Sessions has been obstructing justice since the day he was sworn in. The President has been given the biggest hammer and he needs to use it.

I’m not a lawyer but it sure seems to me that if the SDNY goes after the Trump Foundation for electioneering the most reasonable defense is that the payments were made primarily to protect the integrity of the Foundation, a perfectly legitimate legal expense. That would also obviate any claim that the payments were in any way a campaign finance violation. If I’m not completely off base on these assumptions then the ONLY reason for the investigation into the Foundation is for propaganda purposes. Even if SDNY doesn’t get a prosecutable crime out of this they get MASSIVE publicity against the president. That publicity, as we have seen, appears to be the only reason for any of this investigative crap.

This might be where Cohen comes in. But I doubt Cohen did Trump's taxes. And, I doubt there was a line item deduction for "Pay-off Porn Star" in any of the tax filings. So, just assuming stuff, if Cohen "says" Trump filed it as a legal or business deduction, then it must be true. If this is the case, then what, Trump "told" Cohen how this was accounted for on his taxes? I doubt that.

If the Dems succeed at this they are going to set a precedent they will live to regret, much like their decision on the nuclear option in the Senate.

The Clinton Foundation....at some point....filed 4 or 5 years of corrections for their taxes.

Oh, come on. The Clinton Foundation, like its Founders/Chief Officers, is a paragon of virtue. Any financial “corrections” were mere oversight in their rush to do charitable work in places like Haiti. No reasonable prosecutor would even think of investigating, let alone file charges against them. The Trump Foundation, on the other hand represents the evil of its namesake and must be crushed. It represents the antithesis of ‘New York values’.

This is the continuation of the insurrection that started under Obama to overthrow the United States presidential election.

Why hasn’t Sleepy sessions put a stop to this?? Because Sleepy Session is PART OF IT!

If we the people cannot elect a president that the communists do not want so they use criminal acts to get rid the president, then it is time to kill the liberals.

Since the DC swamp creatures are part of the insurrection, then it is time to take care of them too.

After the original payment to her for her time, why are they not going after her for prostitution and blackmail for a second payment after the fact? Guess she’s on the right, sorry correct, side of political history?

From the link...

As the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., considers opening an investigation, the New York State attorney general’s office has moved to open a criminal investigation into whether Mr. Cohen has violated state tax law, an inquiry that would be unrelated to the federal tax evasion charges that he pleaded guilty to on Tuesday, according to a person with knowledge of the state matter.

The attorney general, Barbara D. Underwood, in recent days sought a referral from the state Department of Taxation and Finance, which is needed to conduct such an inquiry and to prosecute any violations of state tax law it might uncover, the person said. Such requests are seldom denied. The state’s double jeopardy laws do not apply to tax crimes.

Joke indeed. So he spends $66 million of his OWN money on his campaign but needs to illegally grab a lousy $130k to shut down a porn star? It does not compute.

Vance is a corrupt snake.

I have watched his prosecution of innocent knife offenses in New York City. The man is a snake.

To wit...

Paula Jones sued Bill Clinton for allegedly exposing himself to her in a hotel room in 1991. In April 1998, the case was dismissed by Republican Judge Susan Webber Wright as lacking legal merit and Jones could not show damages. But Jones appealed Webber Wright's ruling, and her suit gained traction following Clinton's admission to having an affair with Monica Lewinsky in August 1998. (This admission indicated that Clinton may have lied under oath when he testified, in the Jones case, that he had never had a sexual relationship with Lewinsky.)

On appeal, in the midst of his trial for impeachment based on his testimony in the Jones case, Clinton was faced with the prospect of having to go under oath again and testify more about his sexual history. Instead, Clinton agreed to an out-of-court settlement, paying Jones and her lawyers $850,000 to drop the suit without admitting liability. Clinton's lawyer said that the president made the settlement only so he could end the lawsuit for good and move on with his life

Clinton commits a sexual crime, pays off the plaintiff, and all is ok.

Trump maybe had consensual sex, pays off the plaintiff, and is claimed to have committed a crime.

If it weren't for double standards, Democrats would not have any standards at all.
