The Republican-controlled Senate on Thursday voted to pass an appropriations bill funding the Department of Health and Human Services thatif adopted by the House and signed by President Trumpwill not only permit the continued federal funding of Planned Parenthood but will also allow the continued federal funding of scientific research that creates humanized mice using organs taken from aborted babies.
After some maneuvering on Thursday afternoon, the leadership allowed a floor vote on an amendment offered by Sen. Rand Paul (R.-Ky.) that would have prohibited all federal funding of Planned Parenthood. That amendment was only brought up for a vote after Paul gave a blistering floor speech warning that the Republican leadership might not allow a vote on it at all. It was brought up under a procedure that required it to get 60 votes.
It failed on a 45 to 48 vote.
By contrast, there was no vote at all in the Senate on whether to prohibit federal funding of research that uses fetal tissue taken from babies killed in an induced abortion. [ ]
The bill that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.) brought to the Senate floor ThursdayH.R. 6157combined the Labor-HHS-Education funding bill with the Department of Defense funding bill. Thus, for a senator to vote against the Planned Parenthood and fetal-tissue-research funding permitted in the Labor-HHS-Education bill, he or she would also have needed to vote against the Defense Department funding bill.

The only thing they’ll be rewarded with is a humiliating death at the hands of their masters, if they are stupid enough to bring down the USA. And that’s what they’ve been voting for to happen since the second term of Obama.
Funny how Mitch was a co-sponsor of the bill to defund PP back in 2015, but he’s doing this now.
Just wanted to point out to my fellow Arizonans that Kelli Ward wants to scale down abortions to only 24 weeks or before. Yep. McSally is pro-life, but I am evil for supporting her. Just wanted to add this comment to the GOPe, who funds abortion.
McConnell personally keeps the swamp from draining.
Rand Paul says no. He says no to budget busting, no to Russian sanctions based on nothing, and lots of other things no should be said to.
Is there actually a line item in this budget funding Planned Parenthood? There never has been before - articles like this have always been false before and this article is likely also false. It was always an executive policy - one that Trump’s HHS recently reversed - this bill would do nothing to change that.
“Articles like this” from CNS News?
Has PP been defunded, yes or no? If not, then whatever you’re asking is moot.
Congress gets kickbacks. How do you think they become millionaires overnight?
Not only that, but bribes and graft. The rule of man is always that of hoodlums and gangsters. Lesson of history.
No swamp drain, illegal immigration status quo, no wall and continued government funded abortion: LOSING.
I seriously doubt President Trump will sign on to this.
These bastards are killing our country.
By lying to us. And also because the Democratic opponent is unacceptably worse.
How do they get voted in?
I dont think so. Public exposure of such enemies would rapidly neuter the power thereof. And that would include the press.
Many of them, I think, are bribed, blackmailed and they, their families are threatened.
So if Congress doesn’t act, someone should?
How will they get exposed when to expose them is death and/or their reputations will be destroyed by the release of the information they have on you. They also likely threaten to kill your family. These guys aren’t kidding. They play for keeps, as they have demonstrated for all to see, who have eyes to see.
Being in the government, one could bring all the power of the government to bear herein. This is not like the USSR where it’s all controlled by one man and the military is programmed to be loyal to one party.
RINOs are leftist ideologues through and through. There is no case of being blackmailed or intimidated when it comes to what they do. Trump certainly exposed that.
Weeeeeellllll, considering that even Defense is infested with pork, I would vote against the bill, anyway.
And people wonder why the Dems have a shot at retaking Congress this fall.
