Ohio’s Brown to oppose Trump’s Supreme Court pick
Dayton Daily News ^ | August 24, 2018

Sen. Sherrod Brown said Friday he will oppose the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, making his announcement just days after meeting with the federal appeals court judge.

Although Brown’s decision was expected, he took more time in announcing his opposition to Kavanaugh than last year when he said he would vote against Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch just hours after President Donald Trump nominated him to the high court.

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, is seeking his third term in the U.S. Senate. His November opponent is Rep. Jim Renacci, R-Wadsworth, who left the governor’s race to run for the Senate after Josh Mandel withdrew. “Special interests already have armies of lobbyists and lawyers on their side,” Brown said. “Working people need justices who will put their rights first, not justices who will side with insurance companies over cancer survivors, financial scammers over customers, or massive corporations over American workers.”

Renacci, his opponent, is a Trump guy. The state Republican Party and Kasick don't want him to win. He's getting horribly outmaneuvered in the campaign, and NO help from the Republican Party.

We can hope that this stupid statement by Brown energizes Renacci.

I think one could go through thirty of the states and find that each GOP party is basically made up a bunch of fake Republicans or just plain losers.

This is a prime example of a Republican candidate who should be supported by contributions made directly to him. Remember, the country, not just Ohio, lives with the consequences of having him in the Senate.

When the RNC underfunds Trump-supporting candidates, the people need to step in. I remember when money bombs were organized for these candidates and were quite successful.

Geez! Shouldn't Ohio be an easy pickup for the GOP in the Senate?

TRUMP won Ohio by 8%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’d like to amend my previous post, which was unclear. The country will live with the consequences of having Brown remain in office , and because his opponent’s, Renacci, campaign is not being funded by the RNC or being supported by RINO governor Kashich, the people should send contributions directly to Renacci’s campaign.

re: making contributions directly to Renacci

It's not just money. Renacci needs to run a better campaign, at least as good as he ran in the primaries. There isn't really that much time for him to rev it up: (1) early voting starts in October and (2) PAC ads are framing Renacci as a crook.

LOL! As usual, a Democrat who doesn't believe in the Constitution. Which is why Democrat Presidents put far left-wing nuts on the Court and nary a peep is heard.

Brown is a RAT. His performance is 100% predictable. His opposing Kavanaugh is like smoke in the wind.

By "special interest groups" Sherrod Brown means working people and other patriotic Americans. Thanks SMGFan.

Renacci needs to be energized. I just spent the week in Columbus talking to my political pals - no one gives Renacci a sliver of a chance. Instead of being on the news and seen attending events around the state, Renacci is no where to be found.
