It’s almost depressing to see Russia allying itself more and more with communist China, and also with Iran as their primary supplier of nuclear technology.

I know Putin is maneuvering to try and make Russia a world power again, but I often wonder what the Russia people, who have much more common heritage with the Western nations, what they really want for Russia and their future.

The outs always sort of align against the ins. Russia's long term strategic interests are not congruent with China's. The relatively thinly settled but resource rich eastern Siberia is certainly one of China's long term strategic objectives. What is foolish and counter productive is the sham conflict the necons have spun up with Russia. They are heavily bought off by China and need a bogey man to develop a Cold War 2 lite so they and their contractor and thinktank whores can rake in the bucks.
