The mullah’s in Iran don’t care about that as long as they and their military are still being fed and taken care of. They’ll starve, brutalize and suppress their own people just like North Korea does to keep their power. They’ve already proven they’ll do that every time they suppress a popular uprising by shooting their own people and run them over.
They better hurry. This could well beat Israel’s record. The six hour war.
By the end of the operation, U.S. air and surface units had sunk, or severely damaged, half of Iran’s operational fleet.
Persian Gulf and Straits of Hormuz are the only necessary targets. Sink their ships. Take out any shore batteries they may wish to aim at US ships. Patrol the gulf and straights until they cry ‘uncle’. Shoot down planes.
International maritime law is the governing authority not Iran, the US, or any one of small collective of countries.
This is the part where we clasp hands, throw our heads back and laugh.
Closing off the straight will also massively affect oil prices, which may be why we haven’t done it already.
Which is why we are becoming energy independent.

Lots of ships and boats in both their navy and controlled by the IRGC. I bet the USN could not only sink all of them, and all at once, with conventional weapons, but they could make it look like the Chinese did it.
China does not have the world’s largest navy. We do. They have more “ships” but they are smaller coastal patrols. America dwarfs China in naval aviation and UAV’s. The US also has 20 aircraft carriers to China’s 1. Ours are much larger and all equipped with landing craft, helicopters, and V/STOL planes.
The same is true with the army. They have more soldiers but we have far, far more firepower. China fields 17,000 armored combat vehicles. America fields 45,000. China fields 281 attack helicopters. America fields 973 (more than Russia and China combined).
We’ve never ranked #1 in numerical troop strength, but history shows that firepower is usually the winning side.
No. Unfortunately the last two me Iran messed with the U.S. Navy a bunch of sailors peed in their pants and their CO begged for forgiveness.
Despite Iran’s tough talk, it seems unlikely that the country would cut off what amounts to its own lifeline....which they always threaten to do but never act on.
