To me, this is how term limits should work. For this conversation, let’s put the limit at 12 years. That’s two full senate terms or 6 full house terms. I, NCC-1701 runs and wins a seat on the Hill. My 12 years starts the day I take the oath. I have 12 years to get things done. It doesn’t make any difference how I work it as long as it totals 12 years. After that length of time I am gone. I could not lay off an election cycle and run again. I would have had my limit and no more. I would have to look for another job not on the Hill. That’s the way it should work but unfortunately it won’t.

I agree on the 12 year limit. If one cannot get SOMETHING done in two Senate terms or six House terms, then they are not really trying.

no cross over house to senate that totals more than 12 altogether.
