WSJ: Five Republican Senators Met With Sessions, Urged Him Not to Quit
NewsMax - Wall Street Journal ^ | 29 August 2018 | Jason Devaney

Five Republican senators had breakfast with Attorney General Jeff Sessions last week and encouraged him to not resign despite constant pressure from President Donald Trump.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Sessions invited Sens. John Cornyn of Texas, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Jerry Moran of Kansas, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, and John Kennedy of Louisiana to dine with him last Thursday morning at the Department of Justice. The meeting took place in Sessions' dining room and included a lengthy discussion about Trump's repeated attacks on him.

The senators, according to the Journal, urged Sessions to keep doing what he's been doing and stay on the job, at least through the November midterms.

Sessions said he is growing tired of Trump berating him over the Russia investigation, from which Sessions recused himself because he played a role on the Trump campaign. Trump has not let up on that point for a year-and-a-half.

That’s exactly what it’s all about. He’s protecting deep state to keep their corruption private.

I keep trying to excuse his lack of doing his job but it’s getting more difficult to do so.

Yep.
Since Huber isn’t investigating these scandals, who is?

But who is investigating the DOJ, FBI and Clinton scandals?

Judicial Watch and Devin Nunes. Horowitz's IG investigation seems half-hearted. Inside the White House, they are not showing their hand.

Joseph diGenova said last night on Hannity that Ohr said he had not been interviewed by Sessions boy Huber. This is outrageous.

Worth repeating!!!

-- Joe diGenova's wife Victoria Toensing said that Rosenstein's top secret scope documents limit Mueller to investigations of the Trump team, not Hillary, Ohr etc. --

I agree with that. The natural read of the commission to Mueller is one sided that way. It started out as tracking Comey's March 20 testiminy, wehre he (woith the blessing of an unnamed person in the DOJ) disclosed the existence of investigations against the Trump campaign.

That Comey testimony was referred to in the Mueller appointment.

Rosenstein and Mueller further corrupted the effort by sweeping in first, anybody connected with the Trump campaign, and then looking for anything those people did, EVER in their life. Witch hunt.

Not that it would have been honest, but intuitively, the investigation should have limited itself to the time frame of the campaign.

Trust Tom Tillis. Trust Ben Sasse. Trust John Cornyn.

"Trust Jeff Sessions"

Trust the Deep State firewalls and the insurance policy.

Who was it that said Sessions said, “they’re too close to Hillary” when asked why he would go after someone?

Our President Trump does not roll in some "super secret 3D chess game manner". Donald J Trump has always presented himself in a straightforward, in your face manner which has made him a billionaire.

He is a very bright man and a loyal person to those who have served him. Jeff Sessions is counting on that benevolence, taking advantage of it in this case since he was the first and just about the only US Senator who strongly supported him early in the campaign.

Trump wants him out and Senators Grassley and McConnell have publicly stated they are open to a new AG after midterms. I expect that is largely the part which the WSJ is hanging their hat on: wait until after the midterms to avoid controversy at the moment. I don't believe Kennedy views him as an effective AG any more than we do.

But as stated in this string and from my reading over the years, no one makes it into the Senate without kissing butt with some questionable characters. I can think of only one US Senator, Harry Truman, who served with distinction in the 20th century as both a US Senator and US President. The US Senate is a Constitutionally established part of the legislative branch but the vast majority of them from both parties aren't noted for ethics. And our 44th president was a glaring example of how the corrupt rise to the top of the swamp via the Senate.

Texas is sick of Cornyn.

************

That will be interesting to see assuming he runs in 2020. He’s
been elected for three terms so far and I don’t see Texas electing
a democrat. Who do you think could beat him in the GOP primary?

What if ... Sessions recused on the “Russian Interference”, but was doing a separate investigation of Democrat Interference, including real honest to god voter fraud, illegal campaign contributions, selling national assets for personal gain, not nebulous “fake news on social media” crap.

Have you forgotten that Sessions recused himself from all matters related to the 2016 election?

He legally can't go after any of the coup plotters, or investigate any of their crimes, because everyone and everything can be tangentially tied back to that election.

He is not, has not, and will not be doing a single bloody thing about the biggest scandals in American history.

If he felt too ethically compromised to take on the task of prosecuting the worst crimes in our history, he should have resigned the office immediately, and let a better man do the job.

The fact that he has stubbornly refused to either rescind his recusal, or resign the position, makes him a complicit co-conspirator in all of the illegal activity that is going unpunished.

To be SO supportive of Trump before .. makes it certain he is a plant . an imposter posing as a buddy.

Watching Sessions on stage with Trump at his campaign rallies always set off my 'spidey sense'. There was just something creepy about his demeanor that looked off to me.

Lavrentiy Beria died in 1953 but Mueller and a good part of the deep state are following his theme, “Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime.”

Crazy thought, but Trump may actually turn the media on Sessions, leaving him no choice to resign/leave......
