On NAFTA, Canadians wonder if they’ve been outmaneuvered by Trump

OTTAWA — Shortly after his election in late 2015, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared “Canada is back,” promising a renewed Canadian presence on the world stage.

Trudeau has taken political hits since then for minor lapses, such as a luxury family holiday visit to a Caribbean island and an ill-fated trip to India, but his biggest challenge, just a year before Canadians go to the polls, has come from the leader of Canada’s longtime military ally and economic partner.

Now, Canadians worried that their government has been sidelined in crucial trade talks and may be forced to back down on important economic issues, having been outmaneuvered by President Trump and possibly sold out by an erstwhile Mexican ally.

Several rounds of tense discussions about the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) culminated Monday in a trade pact that excluded Canada, prompting Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland to cut short a trip to Europe and dash to Washington for the first trilateral trade talks with the United States and Mexico in five weeks.

And when Trudeau became prime minister, many Canadians reveled in the international attention Canada received for its handsome, self-styled “feminist” leader.

Being adored by females and beta males doesn’t make you a great leader... Obama should have taught you that.

Trump will not accept 300% tariffs on our dairy products.
It’s that simple. Trump wants fair trade not fool trade.
Trump is about to teach the younger Trudeau a lesson
in fair trade.
Trudeau screwed his own pooch.

Everything is WIN or LOSE with these liberal morons...

Trump is all about THE ART OF THE DEAL.

If they read his book they would know that he does not stress screwing your opponent in negotiations, but coming up with a deal where BOTH PEOPLE walk away happy.

In the previous NAFTA deal we got screwed. Now we want it to be MORE FAIR, not to screw Canada.

Trudeau is just an idiot.

Yep, a big comeback for sure.

My son last night, unsolicited... told the family he saw “an interesting video with Ben Shapiro...”

My jaw dropped! My kids, 3, are all turning more and more conservative by the day. During the primaries of teh Presidential election they were all taunting Trump, and buying into the media lies. They don’t anymore and two of them are staunchly conservative with the 3rd moving that direction. They are 13, 15 and 20. The latter on her own found the Patriot Prayer movement and became an active member.

My 3 kids attend public schools full of “diversity”... But they see the REAL world and think for themselves... thinking for yourself has NEVER been more popular in US society and it’s what is saving us from progressive idiotic liberalism.
