Another innocent victim of progressivism

Illegal immigration must be combated with resolve. We cannot allow the issue to be framed by amnesty advocates as a referendum on Emma Lazarus’ poem “The New Colossus,” inscribed on the Statue of Liberty, with its famous line, “Give me your tired, your poor ...”

As again evidenced last week with the alleged murder of Mollie Tibbetts at the hands of an undocumented immigrant, there are violent criminals among the many who cross the border. No state is immune from crimes committed by illegal immigrants, certainly not Massachusetts. Yesterday brought news that a man was arrested in Texas and is facing child rape charges in Framingham.

We must demand that our elected representatives oversee the full implementation of the laws regarding illegal immigration. We should hold them accountable at the ballot box if they do not — it is their fundamental duty to protect American citizens, and if they don’t believe that, they are not fit to serve.

Also, we must empower and encourage the fine men and women of law enforcement at every turn. The apprehension of Arevalo was the result of cooperation among many law enforcement branches and they should be lauded for it.

The progs should never have been allowed to put Lazarus’ socialist claptrap onto the Statue of Liberty. It was fine without it. It should be removed.

I heard same idiot on a cable news show, quoting that poem as if it were part of our immigration laws. This idiot actually believed that a poem had the force of law.

I wouldn’t call it progressivism. I’d call it Democrats importing human scum to get their votes.

“Give me your tired, your poor ...” has now evolved to “Gimme...I wants some of dat free $hit too”.

“It’s my right to violate your rights”. If you disagree you are racist, homophobic, etc.

I think it’s interesting that liberals want the law enforced to the nth degree for most things, except illegal immigration. They want labels on everything you buy, and they want those labels to be complete and accurate. They love regulations when it comes to business practices, the environment, and many other areas of life that affect us. However, they don’t care one whiff about enforcing the regulations regarding immigration, no matter how detrimental to our country it is to avoid enforcement of immigration laws. Hypocrites.

It’s “ yearning to be free”, not yearning for free stuff

Agree.

It should be “Give us your intelligent, beautiful, shapely and hard workers.”

Immigration should be slowed to a trickle. And it should be allowed from those countries which have the most citizens already here: UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Poland and let the howls start.

Kinda like when the same types of idiots believe that the Constitution actually mentions "separation of church and state", as well.
