Gee, I just wonder if other types of studies and polls are having the same problems, and whether we should question their bland assertions of fact?

Making your data and methods public should be a requirement to get published. The entire basis of the scientific method is being able to reproduce results.
An experiment that can’t be falsified or reproduced is worthless.
