You miss my point.
The only reason he is being celebrated as a great patriot, hero, statesman,
warrior, etc. is because of his hatred of Donald Trump.
Trump turned him into a hero of the republic.
His celebration as “hero” is limited to a certain audience which has abandoned the concept of a republic. The people celebrating him are really just celebrating their personal hatred of Trump, which is I think, what you are saying.
