Trump Jr. says he'd back a new conservative version of Facebook

Donald Trump Jr. said in a new interview that he would back a conservative version of Facebook.

“I’d love to do it. But what I prefer is, take one of the two Silicon Valley conservatives and let them start it,” Trump Jr. told Axios when asked if President Trump’s 2020 campaign might create such a platform. “And then I'd help promote the platform and be all over that.”

Trump Jr.’s comments come on the heels of a report from The New York Times that more than 100 Facebook employees are forming a group to challenge what the group’s founder, senior Facebook engineer Brian Amerige, terms the company’s “political monoculture.”

“We are a political monoculture that’s intolerant of different views. We claim to welcome all perspectives, but are quick to attack — often in mobs — anyone who presents a view that appears to be in opposition to left-leaning ideology,” Amerige wrote in a post on the firm’s internal message board that was quickly taken down.

President Trump accused social media of censoring non-leftist speech in a tweet earlier this week.

The president in comments on Tuesday warned Facebook and Twitter to "be careful."

“If you look at what is going on with Twitter and if you look at what’s going on in Facebook, they better be careful because you can’t do that to people,” Trump said at a White House event.

Alternative platforms exist to Facebook, which purport to allow all speech, regardless of content, such as Minds and Gab. However, their membership is minuscule compared to the social media giant.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg are set to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee on September 5 about the influence of social media platforms on U.S. politics.

Trump Jr. could not be immediately reached for comment.

We do already - it’s called FReeRepublic!!!!!

Yay! We get the 3,510th popular website in America!

Liberals are allowed to get their messages across on Twitter (7th) and Facebook (3rd).

We don’t need a Conservative echo chamber. We need a rightful place at the table of ALL ideas.

True, but apparently there's no chance of that happening because the left has discovered they can't win in a fair, honest, and open debate of all sides. That's why they're out to silence us entirely.

Agreed regarding an open forum.

The “conservative alternatives” often fail to launch.

We also have FR to filter out the noise.

It should just be genuinely open and non restrictive. Not a conservative facebook, but a free & open facebook.

shouldn’t be a “conservative facebook”, but rather a “free speech facebook”

I think given the internal complaints from Facebook employees AND the threat by Trump to sic the SEC and FTC on the company for possible securities law violations, you may see Facebook change its tune REALLY fast because it supports a huge number of people employed in the Bay Area.

How about just a FAIR FACEBOOK, which lets EVERYONE speak and share freely. God forbid “liberals” act liberal.

“Be careful what you wish for. Facebook is not a public utility. The next demand will be for a “fair” Freerepublic. You don’t want a regulatory commission to decide what’s fair.”

I wasn’t clear. Facebook is a sewer. What I was wishing for is a startup, that is similar to Facebook, but fair in application of their posting rules.

This is the most practical solution. “Build our own house, forum or sandbox made the way we prefer it.” Obviously, Facebook and Twitter don’t care what conservatives want, just ask them. Legally, they don’t have to accommodate us at all.
Let’s stop pretending to be shocked about it.

they always mention gab & minds but they don’t work the same as facebook. Minds is confusing and gab is high maintenance to keep crap from showing up on your feed.

https://mewe.com is very close to facebook in the way it works and the CEO is a Patriot. Much cleaner than FB as there are NO ADS.

I really hate the trash talking of the President on twitter
..........................................................
The so called “trash talking” is Sunday School language compared to the filth that comes from so called journalists on a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

FB doesn’t make their money from the individuals using it. Their money comes from the businesses that use it.

Chiming in here, I'd suspect any new startup like the one mentioned here would need some financially sound major venture capital funding from conservative sources that could help with idea's and with long term capital backing along the new way. I'd also suggest that anyone getting involved be thoroughly vetted and perhaps even a conservative litmus test should be administered else it could easily go the way the former Tea Party went by trying to be 'fair' and letting liberal plants get their noses under the tent and sow their seeds for dissent and destruction.

More importantly IMO the backbone provider must not be subject to interference or obstruction from any silicon valley or Democrat/Liberal affiliated groups or institutions of any kind.

Name them! If you aren’t a Secular Progressive Jew in the Silicon Valley you’re not running anything. They own Silicon Valley! I know who’s who, I worked there for more than 25 years. There are virtually NO Conservatives.
