A Mingo County Schools bus driver was arrested Tuesday after police say he was driving the school bus while impaired.
David Lee Justice Jr. was driving the Mingo Central High School girls team to a soccer game when he was pulled over along U.S. 119 in Boone County. One coach was also on the school bus.
West Virginia State Police say he failed field sobriety tests and later had blood drawn to check for drugs or alcohol.
Justice's father said he believes his son had a medical emergency on the bus, like a heat stroke. He said his son is not on drugs.
Justice was also given a drug test by the Department of Transportation. According to his father, those results will be in on Friday.
"The safety of our children is our first priority," Superintendent Donald Spence said. "I am aware of the arrest of a bus driver and I am taking all necessary steps to address the situation. The Mingo County Board of Education will not tolerate in any fashion behavior that endangers our students or staff."
Spence said if Justice showed any indication of this kind of behavior, he would not have been behind the wheel of a Mingo County school bus.
“I KNOW MY RIGHTS!”
With all the negative publicity on the case in the media, David will have no Justice.
“Son, you just blew a 0.2 and looks like you’re drunk as a skunk.”
“It’s heat stroke, ossifer! I got .. hic ... I got a m-m-medical emergency!”
I’m thinking he was on oxycontin or some other form of the Hillbilly Heroin.
Ha. I own a great movie about Boone county, WV called, “The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia”. Fascinating documentary.
PFL
Didn’t he used to play for the Braves?
I wonder if he had a clean driving record to start with....
And if not, how the heck did he get and keep this job.
