Here's Long List of Top Democrats Saying "Monkeying Around" - yes, but DeSantis said "monkeyed up" - up is what happens when a black is lynched - he's pulled up into the air by his neck - so clearly that's a racist statement of the most obvious kind - "monkeyed around" includes around which implies inclusiveness and universal love, so it's quite all right for superior types like Democrats to use the term...see how it works?......

A candidate for re-election to the Senate, from Virginia, George Allen, had a “macaca moment”, in which he referred to a an opposition campaign tracker as a “macaca”.
A macaca is a small monkey of the India subcontinent, and since the campaign tracker was an Indian-American of rather small stature, this was branded as a racial slur.
It diverted the campaign away from the real issues that families care about. And the truth of the matter is, George Allen is very much NOT a racist, but once identified as such, he could not come back from that mark on his record, which by all odds had been very good up to then.

Yes, though to be fair, he didn’t say “moneying around”. He said, “as long as we don’t monkey it up”.
I have never heard that phrasing and it was stupid of him to use it in this context.
