Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said at a press briefing on Tuesday that Sen. Ted Kennedy’s “career was eerily similar” to Sen. John McCain’s.
Addressing the question of what the Senate would do to honor the late senator, McConnell said: “That’s the way we handled Senator Kennedy, whose career was eerily similar to Senator McCain’s in terms of their time here and their reputations for being lions of the Senate and for operating on a bipartisan basis.” […]

Exactly. Most people would view this comment as an incredibly stupid, awkward comment. But not members of Club Senate. Kennedy and McCain were “lions” of the Senate — whatever the F that means. Quite frankly, this is an insult to McCain, as bad as he could be. McCain didn’t murder anyone. McCain didn’t spend his days boozing and sexually assaulting women, and then getting his staff to cover it up.
