I have been repeating again and again, that the country with TRADE deficits has all the cards in a trade war. All it takes is courage and fortitude and perseverance to see it through conclusion. Playing nice as all previous presidents have done (Reagan through Obama) will never work, because countries with trade surpluses will not give up their benefits easily.

“It’s not good enough,” Mr. Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg News. “Their consumer habits are to buy their cars, not to buy our cars.”

Zero on automobile tariffs from and to Europe and USA in matching numbers, and 25 percent tariff on European imports above what we export to them. Come up with a fixed number based on sales last year. That would be fair. Since they buy few American cars, well, they can suck it up and be charged 25 percent on exports to us. Sounds fair to me.

Naturally the article never gets around to mentioning the tariff that Europe currently imposes on US cars. It’s 10 percent, versus our 2.5 percent on their cars.

What these aholes in the EU need is Russian tanks doing a drive through of their cities they spent their money on, all the while under the mistaken impression the US was going to send its blood and treasure to protect their arses!
