The GOP never wanted working class social Conservatives joining their party of martini sipping, wife swapping, country clubbers. But they need their votes. So they pay lip service to old fashioned values during election season.
Then they turn around and say and do nothing when the Democrats, the media, Hollywood, and academia trash religious Christians and people with small town values who live in the heartland.
Then they say “you see, if you want Republicans to win elections, you need to vote for the GOPe types, because at least we don’t scare the ‘soccer moms’ like those anti-immigrant rednecks”.
