Why you see so many Beto O’Rourke yard signs, and so few for Ted Cruz
Houston Chronicle ^ | August 31, 2018 | Julian Gill

The reason for the flood of "Beto" yard signs supporting U.S. senatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke may go beyond the El Paso Democrat's popularity among his base.

O'Rourke's signs litter yards across the state, while signs for his opponent Senator Ted Cruz appear much harder to come by.

Cruz's campaign manager, Jeff Roe, told the Texas Tribune this week that he has an overall aversion to campaign yard signs because they're ineffective. He said he prefers to spend money on other advertisements, such as direct mail, door knocking, phone banks and television ads.

"It would be an easier campaign to win if we just used yard signs, and whoever wins is who puts up the most yard signs," Jeff Roe told The Tribune.

I live in Austin where Robert Francis O’Rourke...I mean Beto...or is that Pequeña Beta signs are ubiquitous. If I would post Cruz sign on my yard, the “tolerant” left would trash my property.

“Beto? What kind of a name is that?”

On the radio they said it was a taco-bender nickname for an Irish guy who’s whiter than Pat Boone making a mayonnaise sandwich with Wonder bread in a Minnesota snowstorm.

Fauxcahontas, Rachel Dolezal, Ward Churchill...there is no end to leftwads trying to steal credibility by falsely identifying themselves with some non-white group.

You could do that by putting a Beto sign out, upside-down. :)

“People who were Republican voters have Beto signs in their yards.”

That make no sense and could be an indication that something nefarious is happening, as there is no way that Texas Republicans would be supporting O’Rourke.

Quite likely, Democrats are secretly placing O’Rourke signs in the front yards of Republicans.

Maybe these Republicans do not realize that O’Rourke signs have been planted in their yards. I could very easily see Democrats putting their signs in yards of the elderly. They may never leave their house and would never notice an O’Rourke sign.

It would not be unwise when you see an O’Rourke sign in a Republican’s lawn to knock on their door to ask and make sure they know that an O’Rourke sign is in their yard.

Beto? What kind of a name is that?

Beto is a Spanish nickname for Roberto. His name is Robert Francis O'Rourke and he is Irish.

Don't know how long he has had that nickname, but it sure looks like he is stumping for the Mexican vote.

Never heard about Philo Beddoe? Spelled different, but sounds the same.

...eek. Meant to say Election 2016. If Sen Cruz survives Election 2018 he’d better back Pres Trump 100%!
****************************************
I guess it has escaped you that Ted Cruz has been one of the strongest Trump supporters in the Senate? Time to leave 2016 and move to 2018 and beyond.

Me thinks Lyn’ Ted and Hapless Roe are using the Hillary Clinton playbook. Maybe they think Trump will pull a victory out of the disaster? It it becomes clear that Republicans have 51 without Lyn’ Ted, hopefully Trump will step away and spend his time elsewhere as Lyn’ Ted looks like a loser and hate to see Trump stung.

Despite telling Lyn’ Ted to take a hike, I keep getting spam. The envelopes are just as bad as they were in 2016. Embarrassing that thy haven’t learned.

#41: "Robert Francis O’Rourke"

Sounds like one of the Kennedy cousins. Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke is about as Mexican as shillelaghs and shamrocks.

If they haven't gotten the clue that a Democrat Senate win means that Federal judge-presidents will be issuing national injunctions instructing people when to breathe in and out, I don't know what to tell them.

This ain't beanbag.

O’Rourke.has setups like Obama had. Special sound effects to make the crowds seem bigger by sound. Obama had special Mocs to make his voice better and project farther, etc.

I can’t see ever putting up a yard sign for a conservative candidate again with so many leftard crazies on the loose.

Bingo. No bumper stickers either or some tolerant leftist would key the car.

No, dear, It means that most people don’t live and breathe politics 24/7.

It means that Beto is being promoted as the next JFK, and he is wooing voters, visiting every city and town in TX.

It means his ground teams are knocking on doors, and asking people if they want Beto signs (for free), while the local GOP’s didn’t order signs, or ask for a suggested contribution for the few signs they have.

It is like they want to lose.

He is not a neophyte to politics. He is the US Congressman from TX-16, elected in 2012. He has had the nickname since kindergarten. Short for Robert O.

TX 16 is EL Paso. It does have Hispanics.
