When I was a kid, our downtown area had two druggists, a very good stationary store that also sold magazines, a candy store, two jewelers, two clothing stores, two upscale home good stores, an ice cream parlor and one very bad bookstore. Bookstore aside, it did cater to people’s real needs. I’ll be honest, I have no idea what it would take for many downtowns to become successful! I use the malls, myself, because I can get a parking spot.

Unfortunately wherever leftists live or go to they make things worse to the point of irreparable destruction.

Lexington’s physical characteristics are steeped beautifully in its history and natural surroundings. With voting totals like that, they obviously don’t let the students vote there, whom I am guessing would be more conservative at VMI, and maybe at W&L too.

But the leftist taliban, statue vandals, book burners and neo-Salem witches / sympathizers located there may have a bigger problem in their future. Robert E Lee is entombed in the “Lee Chapel” on W&L University campus, and the tour guides speak with reverence to his role there ... Stonewall Jackson house in town... Confederate history linked to VMI. What will they do? George Washington’s contribution to W&L and George Marshall’s museum on VMI both cannot sustain Lexington’s tourism .... Without its Confederate history Lexington is squat. University towns like Charlottesville, Durham, Chapel Hill .... all controlled by leftists were not immune, why should Lexington believe now that they will escape their own tyranny?

The reason the other business people don’t openly do something like welcome Sarah back, is that they are fellow travelers with the Red Hen. They cannot cross the line out of fear of their party and others in their community - a true betrayal.

Like you, if I had a business and BHO or any of his associates were to patronize my establishment, I’d focus on providing my service as I do all others, welcome them and perhaps address them by name, but never bring up politics. If they did bring it up, I would say something like ...today we are all Americans and I am glad I am here to (make/serve you a delicious dinner). One might be able to hear conversation etc, but they are customers not a captive to my political beliefs, nor me to theirs. Outside my business might be a different story... but just might....

A few years ago I was on an airport shuttle bus from a remote parking lot. The only other person on the bus all the way to the terminal was my very lefty Congressman. When I sat down, he looked in my direction (I was just a little too far for any small talk). I caught him off guard (by his reaction) when I said hello and greeted him by Mr. name. He became cordial in return. I said nothing til I exited as he stayed on. I wished him a good, safe trip to Washington DC and a good day. He returned the civility. I think he wanted to hear from me, to have an opportunity to talk to one of the “people” (these guys like “the people” especially the civil ones) but I knew I would be wasting my words.

When they out themselves with their hatred... makes purchasing decisions so much easier. When they invented this little games, they never thought it would be used on them. LOL

When you are in the area again, you can go over the hill to the more blue collar Buena Vista...former home of Charlie Manuel, coach of World Series winning Phillies (before he got sacked). I drove through there a few weeks ago and on the main street just outside the main business area there is a big Trump-Pence sign. This is where the deplorables live and thrive.

They shouldn’t burn it down but rather turn it into another one of the local historic sites - and anti-bigotry, anti-tolerance museum, complete with large pictures of President Trump and Sarah explaining how the museum came into being.

Leftists can sweep the floors every night to earn their pay and look at the pictures as they do so.

American citizens need to have a good long talkin' to the public school boards that indoctrinated these schlups to act like commies.

SCHOOL BOARDS ARE LOCALLY ELECTED .... GET RID OF THE COMMIES

“Why doesn’t a neighboring restaurant have a MAGA Wear discount?”

A. 90% of biz owners there are leftists?

B. The other 10% are afraid of having their businesses burned down by the 90% if they did that?

Well, they may be having tourism problems there, but let me tell you, I am on the Santa Barbara coast and I have literally never seen anything like this in my long years on this planet. There is a line of RVs on the coast - camping along the Pacific Coast Highway, 15 miles long without a space in between. I was up in the Santa Ynez Wine Country yesterday, and Solvang looked like freakin’ Times Square. You could park with a half mile of Main Street, the wineries had no parking space, even the Ostrich Farm had a line a block long to get in. The merchant at my favorite shop in Solvang said they’ve never seen anything like this weekend - never sold anything like the volume they’ve had since Thursday. Now I see The freeway coming out of Vegas back to SoCal is bumper to bumper for 150 miles. (Glad I’m going the other way tomorrow).

Crumbs baby, everyone is loving their crumbs.

Washington and Lee is located here (our daughter and son in law met in law school there) and VMI so hopefully those students and visiting families will go to any MAGA supporting establishments in the area so that patriot business owners don’t end up suffering financial loss

Better to boycott the place completely just to be safe.

From the responses, it appears that the Little Red Hen has culled the Freepers out of its potential customer base.

It may be a good case study for students of marketing and public relations.

But wouldn’t it be interesting to see what would happen if a proud Lexington conservative did that for his business? Maybe even a sporting goods or hardware shop? A discount for MAGA wear? I’d love to see someone try.

You were marvelous, being decent and silent to your congressman. If I had to ride a bus with Brad Sherman....

Seriously, though, of course I would be very courteous in my establishment to any and all leftists. Some problem with the criminal ones, though... I’d have to fight some instincts. I’d sooner serve OJ than Hillary. He only killed two.

Do you remember that when President Ronald Reagan was shot, before they put him under, he joked to the doctor, “I hope you’re a Republican.” And the doctor responded, “Sir, tonight we all are.”

WHERE DID THAT CLASSINESS GO??

Some nights I watch old comedians of the 1960s, etc and their roasts and such. They certainly knew how to throw an insult, but if you’ve ever watched these, Republicans and Democrats routinely rip each other new buttholes, as do blacks and whites, and then they all laugh uproariously TOGETHER. Political correctness killed decency.

I gave a speech at the Reagan Ranch 3 weeks ago & was shocked at how expensive things were in SB. I got my PH D at UCSB & it was nowhere ad out of line with AZ as today.

The media is already trying to flip this story to a positive

Fake news

fakenewssanders

I read the linked article and the "upside" is that the town tourism board will spend an extra 5 grand a month to counter the decline in tourism... That was the upside, which to any one with a functional brain, is NOT an upside.

“.but ‘playing it safe’ after what happened at Red Hen”

probably the biggest problem with these kinds of small, dying downtown boutique stores is that the business people who start them up and run them have extremely limited imaginations, poor to non-existent business skills, and probably don’t even realize that they’re “playing it safe” ... the successful small business people i work with are never on “main” street, but are always somewhere nearby where the rent and parking are much better ... they are also usually in some kind of business that isn’t a duplication of something that everyone else is doing and is often in a unique niche ...
