In the 1975 Referendum, the people who predicted that UK joining the EU would lead to a monstrous German/European tyranny ruling Britain were dismissed as crazy and exaggerating.

If the EU of 2016 had been known in the 1975 Referendum, they wouldn’t have even got ten percent of the vote !

They almost “boiled the frog”, but by God’s Grace, the people of Britain rose up and reclaimed their future.

Go Brexit !

Go Trump !

Your comment is absolutely correct. The previous time line chart and words are a bit confusing with labels.

The UK referendum vote in 1975 was this -

Do you think that the United Kingdom should stay in the European Community (the Common Market)?

The original vote of Parliament was to join the European Communities - These were the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom), and the European Economic Community (EEC).

It basically was a big trade agreement until 1991 when it became the European Union.

The UK was suckered into the EU trough a trade agreement that then became it's political Overlord...:^)
