Joint Base Charleston is a United States military facility located partly in the City of North Charleston, South Carolina and partly in the City of Goose Creek, South Carolina. The facility is under the jurisdiction of the United States Air Force 628th Air Base Wing, Air Mobility Command (AMC).

jbcharleston4

The facility is an amalgamation of the United States Air Force Charleston Air Force Base and the United States Navy Naval Support Activity Charleston, which were merged on 1 October 2010.

A joint civil-military airport, JB Charleston shares runways with Charleston International Airport for commercial airlines operations on the south side of the airfield and general aviation aircraft operations on the east side.

jbcharleston5

JB Charleston is home to the 628th Air Base Wing (628 ABW), the host wing for installation support. The 628th ABW's primary duties are to provide installation support to 53 DoD and Federal agencies, servicing a total force of over 79,000 Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents and retirees on Charleston AFB and Naval Weapons Station Charleston.

jbcharleston3

The Support Activity has expanded its mission and Department of Defense support role with over 40 tenant commands, and today is a training center, with the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC), Nuclear Power Training Unit, Propulsion Facility, and Border Patrol satellite academy; Naval Consolidated Brig, Charleston; Mobile Mine Assembly Unit; Explosive Ordnance Detachments; Marine Corps Reserve Center; an engineering complex, with the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR, this is the largest employer in the Charleston area) and is close to the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast; 269 above-ground ammunition magazines, maintenance and storage of military ordnance including mines, and serves as an Army logistics hub, the busiest continental United States surface port in the defense transportation system.

It looks like it does. Sure wish we could get over there to sample their grub. Darn the luck.

Howdy, LUV.

Did your hubby get the lawn mowed today? Reckon you’ll get rain from the storm that’s in the Gulf right now? They say we’ll get a little here.

Gnight, my.

Had the pleasure of seeing Rollins play a few times in Raleigh. He and the band really rocked the house.

Hi, there! Hope you had a good day today! More muggy for you? How is Moogly doing now?

No, he didn’t mow the lawn. He did his laundry. Yep...he does it. LOL! I expect he’ll mow in the next day or so. Our friends who come down to see the eye doctor will be here tomorrow.

No...I think that storm will stay way to the east of where we are. It would be nice if we would, but from what I’ve seen, you have a way better chance. Funny...two days ago they were blowing this storm off as a nothing burger. LOL!

Hey there! It was a decent enough day. Got some housework done and made a quick run to the store for a few things. Pretty warm and steamy out so housework seemed like a good thing to do. It meant staying inside in the cool. LOL!

Dang, he should have mowed while it was relatively cool. I hope it doesn’t get hot again tomorrow.

I watched the weather report a little while ago on Nashville news and it looks like the storm won’t be a wide-spread rain event. Most will be on the west side of it and clobber southern MS and AL as it moves northward. West TN might get a dose but we’ll just get scattered showers. That’s pretty much what they showed TX getting too. Maybe one or two will scatter your way. :-)

I’m a bit concerned about HI. I’ve been keeping an eyeball on the hurricanes in the Pacific and the one closer to HI is moving due west today, straight for the Big Island. :-(

It’s supposed to be cooler all this week, so I think he’s safe for the mowing. I’m sure he dreads it like I do cleaning bathrooms. Only worse. LOL!

Poor HI! Those guys are ready to get their lives back on track and something keeps hitting at them! I hope that hurricane misses them.

Smart to stay indoors today, even though cleaning isn’t the most fun thing in the world. Sometimes ya just have to bite the bullet. I’m probably going to do some before we leave next week so the lady who feeds the cats won’t think we’re slobs. She’s a clean-a-holic. LOL!
