Monica Lewinsky shuts down J’lem interview
Jerusalem Post ^ | September 3, 2018 22:02 | Amy Spiro

Monica Lewinsky, the White House intern turned anti-bullying activist, gave an emotional speech in Jerusalem on Monday night before abruptly leaving at the start of an interview.

Lewinsky addressed the Channel 2 news conference about her experiences in the wake of the revelations of her affair with then-US president Bill Clinton. Following her speech, Lewinsky sat down for a scheduled talk with news anchor Yonit Levi.

Levi asked Lewinsky if she was still expecting a private apology from Clinton after all these years.

Lewinsky simply answered: “I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to do this,” and quickly walked off the stage. Conference organizers did not give any reason for her abrupt departure. A spokesman would not say if Lewinsky left the stage because of the question itself.

On Twitter several hours later, Lewinsky said that she had been misled by Levi, who crossed the line.

"There were clear parameters about what we would be discussing and what we would not," she wrote on Twitter. Lewinsky said Levi had asked her that question a day earlier, and she had declared it off limits.

"When she asked me it on stage, with blatant disregard for our agreement, it became clear to me I had been misled. I left because it is more important than ever for women to stand up for themselves and not allow others to control their narrative."

I understand people being hostile about slick willie in the oval office. My wife spits fire every time that subject comes up.

But Monica was young and foolish. Her life should not be destroyed by this if she has moved away from such things.

As far as what she got from Slick? I know nothing about that.

She was pretty gracious, I’d have thrown the mic at the bitch.

That may be so, but it is a harder subject to expose.

The privacy and database issue is a real monster for individuals and nations.

Look at the effect on the Russia Collusion scam.

Every one and every aspect of life is bound by it now.

There is no privacy.

Correct. And there’s no such thing as “off the record.”

That all may be true. But if the media outlet believed the interview wouldn't be worthwhile unless those questions were asked, then it should not have agreed that such question were off limits, which they apparently did.

They made a specific deal with Lewinsky, then decided to break it. Regardless of her background, she had the same right as does anyone else to withdraw from a broken deal.

“I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to do this,”

Shoulda said that to The Bent One decades ago. She would feel better about herself now, I'd bet.

I guess she just needs to embrace the suck!

She has plenty to work with. It woouldnt surprise me if The Cankle has a standing world wide order to not let anyone forget exasctly what she is renowned for.

Good grief - if she hadn’t provided services for Slick, what on earth would anyone be interviewing her for? What a sad, sad legacy.

“Monica Lewinsky, the White House intern turned anti-bullying activist...”

Way to completely gloss over the only reason she’s famous. Bravo!

I’m all for a person getting over their past and making a new start, etc. But she can’t do that and have the lime light at the same time. That’s not her fault, it’s just the way it is.
