Select his 110 year old Mother.
I may be wrong in regards to my respects. But she is the only McCain I’d like to see replace the dopey departed Senator.

The Arizona Republic reported the conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. PST at the Arizona State Capitol building in Phoenix.
Why is this given in PST? Arizona stays on MST.

By January 2019 the US Senate will have shifted a few degrees to the right. Corker in Tenn out., Montana jerk gone, Kyl in place of McCain in AZ, McSally in for Flake, AZ, Indiana Joe Donnelly out, Nelson out in Fl., maybe West Virginia and South Dakota? Trump will need a Senate that has an edge of say 57-42-1 Longshot bet is an upset of Casey in Penn.

I presume and hope that Gov. Ducey simply didn’t want to pick a candidate and give the person a leg up for the special election, so he picked Kyl as a “caretaker.”
In about four months (technically, four months form yesterday), Kyl will be the senior senator.

Kyl only appointed thru January 19, 2019. A new replacement will be named that will serve the rest of the McCain term.
This is a smart move. Assuming Ducey will be making the appointment, the GOP can select someone who will run in 2020. Being in the job for almost two years gives that person a leg up on the nomination, and if selected, in the general election.

We Arizonans were disappointed when Mr. Kyl retired. We wanted him to run for the Presidency, and we believe he could have won. Mr. Kyl is a man of honor and integrity, and we have faith in his character and his ability.
Thank God.
