Wikipedia is listing Kyl as the replacement.
His past was in favor of comprehensive immigration reform.

Good choice! He will probably be placeholder, then we in AZ can have a vote.

Freepers predicted this and predicted that he would be a placeholder for the governor to run - that’s the question.

I’m so happy Jon Kyl will be taking John McCain’s seat! Jay Sekulow said on his radio show a little while ago that he will be a gain and will be there for about 2 years! We could have had a real RINO, like McCain, so I’m very happy!
To: LRoggy
He will vote better than McCain, and solid for Kavanaugh.

Kyl is likely a caretaker: holding the seat for Republicans, but will not be the Republican nominee in the special election.

I presume and hope that Gov. Ducey simply didn’t want to pick a candidate and give the person a leg up for the special election, so he picked Kyl as a “caretaker.”
In about four months (technically, four months form yesterday), Kyl will be the senior senator.

Super.
1. Well liked by conservatives and RINOs.
2. 4th most conservative voting record in the Senate in 2007
3. Sure vote for Kavanaugh and Ocare repeal.
4. Excellent on defense.
5. A little less than great on immigration, but not Gang of Eight.
6. Will only be there for 2 years in prep for a Doug Ducey run in 2020.

Kyl could not come soon enough. The way the deceased egomaniac McCain was clinging to his Senate seat...He might have effed up the Kavanaugh vote if it got close. With new Senator Kyl we have more margin for error everything.
