I would have preferred a two-year caretaker to a two-year caretaker who’ll then be an incumbent and run for a full term. But Joe would not be a caretaker for McCain’s legacy and ideology, he’d be his own man, provided he’s still lucid. And what a shame that after that he’d retire and leave the seat open. But this is McCain-ia, where the Orcas and the snakes like to rule. So we’ll just have to live with this governor’s pick, and take it as a given that he’ll be the new Rino-lite in town.
