They remind me of Sal Mineo who as a young actor and a lovely wife, had his life destroyed by the Gay Mafia.
He wasn’t acting in “Exodus”, he was in real emotional pain.
I’ve suspected it was Rock Hudson or one of his friends.

That scene in Exodus with Sal Mineo where the Irgun demands to know of his experiences in Buchenwald. He joined the Sonderkommando to stay alive, but at a terrible price:
