I’ve never been to the Far East, but my dad spent some time there in the 1940’s. Lots of American did. :-)

I have viet friend she makes sushi, I teased her on 4 July Did you make American Sushi? she says SPAM? I said yes, she says oh,, no... we have to keep up the standards LOL

My dad never made it past Hawaii. He became ill and I think they finally discharged him. He was over-age when he was drafted and never in the best of health anyway.

But he did what he could and I’m proud of his efforts!

Dad was 17 when he drove the landing craft up to the beaches, discharged the Marines, ran around and pulled the bodies and wounded back into the craft, went back to the ship, Offloaded the wounded and dead, loaded up more marines, back and forth, back and forth, for three days straight. All under gunfire.

One of our local Korean restaurants serves several dishes made with Spam. Looks good too. All of the items I had there was wonderful. Haven’t ordered any of their Spam stuff yet. Get plenty of that at home!
