Violence erupted over the Labor Day weekend in Chicago with shootings killing at least six people and wounding 23 others. In all, more than 1,000 people have been shot since Memorial Day, the Chicago Tribune reported, and while total shootings are down slightly from the same period in 2017, many Chicagoans have said the deadly gun violence remains a major problem that the city desperately needs to fix.

I was looking at some homicide map (2018 numbers) for Chicago, and virtually every single shooting death...was east of Highway 43. It’s an interesting graphical map.
Normal people (like the rest of us)...after six months of this and no activity by the city authorities...we’d just pack up and leave. Yet, they all stay. That’s the part I cannot understand.

Rahm Emanuel is not seeking re-election. I don’t live in Chicago but it hurts me to know that a great American city has been suffering as much as it has.

What could the National Guard do exactly? These aren't 1960's style riots. They are basically random events, drive by shootings, drug deals gone bad, that sort of thing. It's a poisoned culture. I'm not sure what soldiers patrolling the streets could do here.

the inhabitants love their poisoned gimmedat culture. Gov’t pays the essentials of life and you make your “walking around cash” by drugs and prostitution.
Gun play is bound to happen.

In my childhood city which was a suburb of Detroit we were decades ahead of the curve for white flight. When my grandparents moved there it was a far away wilderness but Detroit trash extended until it went right up to our city limits.
Some good people cannot afford to move, others have a strong inertia and misguided optimism that maybe it will be okay.
Michael Savage lives in San Francisco and complains 3 or 4 times a week about its squalor and filth. He has millions of our sponsor money and book sales royalties so he could move.
What they need there are more gun laws.
