That’s a popular misconception that the majority of crime is black on black.
Chicago is a major Mexican cartel hub for narcotics distribution and if you want to break it down on a racial basis (Of course black on black crime exists.) it is a much a battle between black and Mexicans/Latinos for the right to distribute to much of the mid-west as it is anything else.
I don’t think the majority of the nation just knows that Chicago’s street crime is international in nature and it’s moved from rival gangs selling crack on this corner to another to who is going to control the ebb and flow of billions of dollars in opioids to a third of the country.
You don’t end up with 600+ murders a year over $20 crack. At that point even the most hardened street thug calls it a days and goes to work flipping burgers.
The problem is political will and media consequences. There is no political will to engage in the media consequences of hauling off 6,000 blacks and 6,000 Latinos in the face of the faux outrage from the media and ACLU to solve the issues at hand.
