Agree. If it wasn't produced in-house with management's knowledge someone threw it over the transom and NYT thought it was a damned good idea.

Don't care for the DC's gratuitous use of the word "demand"; don't see one in the material. It sets Trump up for a loss, when the NYT refuses to respond. Folks like Trump, let alone a President do not make unenforceable demands.

I blush to admit that years ago I was a news reporter. Nothing big time. Small town daily, which in a way is as real as it gets.

Company policy was anonymous sources had to be identified to managing editor and publisher.

The paper’s biggest asset was its credibility and the top editors weren’t going to throw it away.
