McCain's political legacy is Trump's presidency
The Week ^ | September 5, 2018 | Ryan Girdusky

he late Sen. John McCain was laid to rest over Labor Day weekend, with family and friends, political colleagues and opponents, and a coterie of other respectable and respectful people all gathering to grieve over the war hero and lawmaker they loved and admired.

President Trump was notably absent. Before his death, McCain reportedly made it clear that America's 45th president was not welcome at his funeral. This isn't particularly surprising, as the two had long and famously feuded, their divergence perhaps best highlighted by Trump's widely derided criticism of McCain for being "captured" and held as a prisoner of war for more than five years in Vietnam.

Too bad someone did not drop a neutron bomb on the McCain funeral events to rid ourselves of the 2nd worst elite in human history; the worst being the European elite that plunged the continent into war in 1914.

As Kurt Schlichter put it - “They wonder why they got Trump. They are why they got Trump”.

Being a POW doesn’t make one a HERO.

“Heroic actions” in combat propel one into that status — e.g. single handedly taking out a machine gun nest or capturing a large number of the enemy with your HG — these are meritorious actions.

Rotting in a POW camp for 5+ years is commendable, worthy of honor, but not heroic.

We have obliterated the meaning of words. Now just serving in the military makes one a hero. This same sort of mindset feels compelled to give every one an award, thereby totally cheapening and rendering meaningless the recognition of excellence.

Changing my tagline from:

Obama’s Legacy in two words: DONALD TRUMP!

McCain & Obama’s Legacy in two words: DONALD TRUMP!

“Weekend at Bernie’s 2.0” was a horror show. Any moment you expected McZoombie to rise up and frighten us again preaching globalism phases that we all hate. McCain disobeyed orders and was shot down. He was captured and severely treated for 5 years. I don’t know how he did that. However none of military actions were heroic he of a POW.
I am glad that his name will be spoken less and less with every breathe the world takes.

I totally agree with you on the fact that the European elite who launched WWI are the worst bunch in humanity.

McCain and his allies in Washington proved unable to see that tens of millions of Americans were fed up with politics as usual.

The American people rejected John McCain twice

... rejected Hillary Clinton twice

... rejected Jeb Bush with a fury that surprised 'elites' in Washington since he was their choice.

The American people are sick of the two bit phonies who run on one message then 'pivot to' establishment elites the minute they get to Washington...

Trump is keeping his word to the American people. McCain and Hillary kept their word to corrupt elites.

It’s very simple.

Both parties were hell bent on making America into North Mexico and the citizens wanted it stopped.

The citizens have wanted it stopped since the establishment started their bipartisan policy of non-enforcement right after the last amnesty.
That bill promised border and interior enforcement for a one-time amnesty.
The establishment had no intention of ever securing the border or enforcing the laws.
The illegal alien inundation was intentional and bipartisan.
They had US in a box voting for amnesty candidate D or amnesty candidate R with no hope of keeping our country.

Trump promised US he would stop the invasion of our country by fraudulently documented foreigners.

That is why he won.

There is a purpose in having the designation hero. It acknowledges a debt, honors an exceptional service but also makes it clear what the values of a society are. In America we respect a persons military service, their bravery and their sacrifice for our country.

In McCain’s case he was a poor serviceman, many accidents, failure to follow protocol resulting in his broken limbs in his crash behind enemy lines and for the many deaths he caused with a flashy and dangerous landing maneuver on a battleship. The songbird tapes are clear proof that he was not a hero in captivity. The evidence from others is that he was never tortured but instead afforded the best treatment as a propaganda weapon.

He served, he was a prisoner but I, like President Trump, prefer my heroes to be people that acted heroically rather than being caught up in circumstances. If McCain had acted honorably following his service rather than shafting vets and his fellow citizens

I would honor his service despite his flaws but he was no hero. To suggest he was cheapens real heroes and sullies the definition of hero. That is a disservice to our children and to society as a whole. Was McCain a man you would want children to emulate? Rather he is an object lesson in narcissism, and vindictiveness, an ego out of control. He wrote the story of his life and it is not one of heroism, it is a cautionary tale of a trip to the dark side.
