President Trump should probably call off the hunt for the senior official in the ..administration " who the New York Times is claiming wrote a damning op-ed for the newspaper.
Apparently the senior official claims to be part of a group of White House staff trying to thwart the presidents agenda from within. He also claims they seriously considered trying to depose the president using the 25th amendment of the Constitution.
Serious stuff. But President Trump should relax and remember it is the New York Times after all. The paper has a scandalous history of lying about the seniority of officials it quotes anonymously - especially when that source parrots their agenda.
A few years back they were caught red-handed deceiving their readers in such a way.
In a lengthy anti-fracking article they claimed that senior industry experts and insiders believed the industry to be little more than a Ponzi scheme ..set up for failure".
They even had the emails from a series of senior insiders where these doubts were expressed.
...
Well unfortunately for the New York Times the emails were from the Energy Information Agency - a government organization so this meant Senate investigators were able to find the original emails and work out the identity of all these different senior experts. It turns out the federal analyst, the energy analyst and the officer turned out to be the same person who was actually an intern when he wrote the first email and in an entry level position when he wrote the other comments. Yes, thats right, the Paper of Record misrepresented an intern/junior employee as a senior official to push an agenda.

The senior official is probably a janitor.
What Trump should do is to send a e-mail to everyone in the executive branch with an attachment to sign and return by the end of the day that they are swearing under penalty of perjury that they were not the author of the NYT editorial. Anyone not signing that document will be immediately terminated.
The will put an end to this nonsense.
They are hoping to trigger an inappropriate reaction out of the President and confuse the electorate. This is typical leftist media nonsense. They are attempting to create news out of their own nonsense. It is just another trap. The President should probably just have ignored them completely, but that is not really his style.
Beat me to it. I was going to write:
Senior Official: Old Janitor.
They have to be senior people, otherwise they couldn’t undercut his directives.
Hell, they had several of their staff write up bogus crap and then try to tell us it was “an anonymous source”. These seditious NYT bastards lie over and over. Why would this be different?
OK, I know who it is, drumroll please...
The Cook.
The Beltway is a gossip festival. It lives on loose talk.
You could get all the same background for Woodward’s book and this editorial in a months time from a dozen bars if you want to buy the drinks.
Trump needs to ignore it. His reaction now has become the story.
Anonymous Squirrel
A squirrel who lives on the White House grounds, who also wishes to remain anonymous has released an article describing his life at the White House.
In it he describes how President Trump feeds them poor quality nuts and rotten fruit, has hit golf balls at them and had their nests removed because he feels they’re vermin. Being a black squirrel he also states that Trump is a racist after overhearing him call them tree rats.
He has his staff mowing the lawn constantly making life difficult and tree trimmers threatening their canopy cities. Mr. Squirrel also states he has witnessed Trump driving his golf cart irradically almost running over his children and considers him a threat to the squirrel populace.
He feels he is unstable and unfit to run the country because of his actions. Mr. Squirrel has been keeping a daily journal which will prove Trumps incompetence as a leader in a soon to be released book coming out in mid September before the election.
Senior Official: Aging Sanitary Engineer.
The problem is twofold. First, the resistance is real and the piece may be genuine. There might really be such a backstabber in the command post. You cant afford to ignore it.
Second, this is part of the campaign to undermine public confidence in the administration. You cant afford to ignore that either. George Bush never fought back and he was totally undermined.
GW was "undermined" largely because he was nothing more than a deep state stooge. But you make a very good point, except that reacting to this type of nonsense makes it appear more legitimate than it is. This is actually a very thinly veiled coordinated attack meant to legitimize the Woodward book. Over reacting plays into their hands.
I agree that overreacting is always a bad idea. I just dont think Trump can afford to do nothing. These kind of reports are going to continue as long as he is in office.
The Cook: Probably angry about serving well done steaks with ketchup.
Or the extra scoop of ice cream sent him over the ledge.
Knowing this crappy rag there’s probably not anyone working in the White House. The author’s source is quiet possibly the butterflies flying around inside their head.
