We already knew that the USAO-DC was investigating McCabe after the referral from the IG for allegedly false statements regarding leaks to the press.
The fact that it was referred to Jesse Liu and not John Huber back then signaled to some of us that John Huber was not investigating anything. He was merely “evaluating” issues and Jeff Sessions mentioning him was meant as a way to stiff-arm members of Congress and the public calling for a second Special Counsel to investigate the obvious widespread criminal wrongdoing in the FBI and DOJ with respect to abuse of power in using intelligence and law enforcement tools for political purposes.
So this new WaPo piece is probably part of a new effort to stop momentum for a second Special Counsel as more indications of wrongdoing come out regarding Bruce Ohr and his beautiful wife Nellie and others.
I’ll not be holding my breath waiting on an indictment.
