No NFL players visibly kneel during season opener

There were no visible demonstrations by NFL players during the national anthem before the season opener on Thursday night.

All of the Atlanta Falcons and most of the Philadelphia Eagles stood throughout the anthem, including players who have previously demonstrated, such as Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins.

Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett wandered around the bench throughout the anthem and sat down near the end, but he did not kneel.

Most of the players reportedly had their hands over the chests throughout the anthem.

Last month, several Eagles players, including Jenkins, did not take the field during the national anthem at a preseason game, extending the ongoing protests by NFL players. Jenkins also raised his fist during the national anthem at a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Players have stated the protests are a stand against racial inequality and police brutality.

President Trump has taken on the NFL protests as a lightning-rod political and cultural issue, claiming the NFL demonstrators are unpatriotic.

Trump on Wednesday slammed the NFL and Nike after Nike featured free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the face of its latest ad campaign.

Kaepernick was the first to kneel during the national anthem to protest the treatment of people of color in the U.S. in 2016.

"Just like the NFL, whose ratings have gone WAY DOWN, Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts," Trump tweeted on Wednesday. "As far as the NFL is concerned, I just find it hard to watch, and always will, until they stand for the FLAG!"

Trump also briefly mentioned support for the flag during a rally in Billings, Mont., on Thursday night.

The NFL sought to end the controversy earlier this year with a policy that prevented players from protesting during the anthem. The policy was later frozen after the league fielded criticism from supporters and players.

NFL has been a complete garbage product for years and years before this protest dog squeeze. They could all stand waving sparklers with an eagle on their shoulder during the anthem and it would still be a garbage product.

The NFL is fake competition anyhow. Should be called national fools league. They have all these people thinking it’s somehow their city vs some other city all while each team is made up of people from all over the country vs another group of people from all over the country. When the Bills play Miami this year there will be little if any native representation on the field for either team. What a farce.

“...Horses don’t kneel...”

If they you you shoot them, and that is a sad moment.

With crapniks, not so sad.

Burned out, is my guess.

People have to remember that, although the media did their usual hysterical thing about it, kneelers were a HUGE minority among NFL players.

In an actual, non-agenda, real-world media, the headline would have been, “Few NFL Players Join Kaepernick Protest.”

It’s the media that glorified the kneelers and made this a crapfest.

Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett wandered around the bench throughout the anthem and sat down near the end, but he did not kneel.

An America-hating, disrespectful, ungrateful, and ignorant PIG of an NFL player can demonstrate his scorn for our fine Country and culture by wandering around and sitting during our wonderful National Anthem.

NFL will do nothing about this.

I am thoroughly enjoying my alternative plans, and I neither watch nor follow anything NFL.

BTW.

NFL and/or Nike gear is the new fur clothing.

Do not wear, do not give (even to charity).

It belongs in landfills, and nowhere else.

don’t care ... all but one Eagle turned down the President’s invitation to the White House, and then the NFL lets Nike ram Kaepernick down our throats ... I’m done ... refused to watch the season opener ... not to mention I could give a rat’s ass who won ... watched Trump’s brilliant Montana rally instead ... MUCH more entertaining ...

No more NFL for me. The sports bars are doomed—never mind the fact I don’t own a TV.

Was this planned or did ‘the movement’ just burn out?

Don’t care and haven’t watched an NFL game in a few years.
I still watch some college. I haven’t watched and NBA game
in many many years.

Bennet’s actions were still disrespectful. F the NFL and these millionaire children. They can all go to He11 as far as I am concerned — not a one of them deserves the attention or money of real Americans.

What were there, three team members from both teams on the field at the time?

For me the NFL did what MLB did and that is change the rules to have higher scoring games. You can barely touch the QB anymore, almost anything is illegal contact and the refs use holding calls to extend drives. It changed the game and for me made it worse.

No NFL players visibly kneel during season opener

None were visible because no one was watching. The NFL can pound sand.
