Generally I like the way Trump fights back, but I’m concerned he is giving the NYT’s obvious gas-lighting campaign undeserved credibility with this response. The NYT is failing, and Trump’s presidency is succeeding. That should be the takeaway here.
This sleazy op-ed is a classic intelligence agency ploy, designed to trick a leader to doubting the loyalty of his closest associates. It ties right in with Woodward’s book which does the same thing and just happens to be coming out at the same time.
I still would like to see the CIA and FBI operatives who are really behind this sedition and attempted coup tried and hanged if found guilty. That would be an effective response.
See my post #18 and read the op-ed. You cant threaten the life of the President without consequence.
Trump asked Sessions? To investigate this? Sessions!? Magoo probably wrote it. I swear I am in a twilight zone.
If I were Trump I would call in Jack Bauer. Jack has the talents to ferret out the saboteur in a relatively short time, especially using enhanced interrogation techniques. With Chloe on the technical IP side they can’t fail.
Investigate, find and lock him up.
That's possible, but I wouldn't discount the idea that it was strictly a Times fabrication.
It does imply that PDJT is giving it credibility whereas before we all just took it as a made up piece of BS. He seems to have reason to believe that at least some of the material was valid.
I believe Trump knows its a work of fiction by the NYT and I’m sure he would love to expose that. Perhaps if they can play the national security threat angle, maybe they can apply pressure to reveal the “source”.
can he do that
that’s exactly how I read it. If this person is crazy enough to write the letter but insists on remaining hidden in the shadows, they are crazy enough to proceed in further attention seeking ‘one way or the other’.
The New York Times did.
Should be obvious to everyone.
Well according to modern political and media wisdom the President cant request anyone do anything
Telling Sessions to go after the New York Times seems a bit like yelling attack! at your Pet Rock in the face of an approaching mugger. At least you can throw the Pet Rock at the evildoer. As for Sessions, he appears to have no useful purpose.
Trump should issue a blanket order that the writer present his resignation.
After that it is an employee out of compliance with the head of the Executive Branch and certainly out-of-compliance he should be subject to being brought forward for examination.
The NY Times must be compelled immediatly to reveal their sources. Protecting a secret and subversive entity within our government is not part of freedom of the press.
Some have suggested that this whole thing is a sting operation controlled by POTUS. Think about it. The NYT is approached by a ‘source’ who is actually cooperating with POTUD. The NYT knows the source is not part of the administration, and they’re unable to verify that the source is connected with anyone who is - but they publish it anyway.
While there is no classified info in the ‘leak’, the plans laid out by the author are clearly treasonous if in fact they come from someone in the administration. This gives POTUS the legal justification to investigate as the press has no right to protect sources that are planning treason. The end result, the NYT will be exposed for their knowing collusion with political enemies of POTUS (and the country, I might add). Just throwing it out there.
President Trump, you cannot ask Jeff Sessions to investigate himself.
I would have my Secret Service relentlessly open gang stalk every head person at the paper until not even their own family wants anything to do with them let alone their friends.
Someone will crack pretty quick...
Doesn’t Session have to obey his boss’s order???
“Sedition. It needs to be investigated.”
Exactly. Time to hire an investigative law firm to look into the NYT’s sedition and treason. Name names and list the punishment for treason. It’s time to scare the crap out of these Marxist pigs.
