Josh Gates did an episode on this a few months ago with a local detective who had reopened the cold case.

That is exactly what I was thinking when I read this article. Sadly is doesn't say how they were returned or where they were while missing.

Per the article, the owner paid $2000 in 1970 for the pair of slippers. Loaned them to a museum, insured the slippers for $1 million and after the heist, insurer sued and settled to pay out $800,000. How often can one make a profit like that? The slippers will probably go to the insurance company, who knows what they can get for them.

i had a friend who lived next to a guy who had daughters named Judy and Marilyn. The daughters were born in the 1950s, so the wifey named them after Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe.

“The FBI was looking for these shoes? I really do hope that’s a joke.”

Looks like they have a few employees....

The FBI employs approximately 35,000 people, including special agents and support professionals such as intelligence analysts, language specialists, scientists, and information technology specialists.

The Crime of the Century. The FREAKING CRIME OF THE CENTURY. And the police allow the prime suspect to be be gunned down in public, with police escort, live on national TV, by a two-bit low life bottom feeding hoodlum. But I am just a conspiracy theory wacko...

Do you know what this really means?
It means that the FBI is vastly overfunded.
Mr. President, tear down that Budgetary Wall!!
