Apple Just Permanently Banned Infowars' App From The App Store
BuzzFeed News ^ | 07 Sep 18 | John Paczkowski and Charlie Warzel

Posted on 09/07/2018 7:20:17 PM PDT by Drew68

A day after being banned from Twitter, Alex Jones and Infowars have been booted from yet another platform: Apple's popular App Store. As of Friday evening, searches on the App Store for Infowars return no results.

Apple confirmed the app's removal to BuzzFeed News, but declined comment, pointing to its App Store Review Guidelines. The company said Infowars would not be permitted to return to the App Store.

The first clause of those guidelines explicitly rejects content that is "defamatory, discriminatory, or mean-spirited content, including references or commentary about religion, race, sexual orientation, gender, national/ethnic origin, or other targeted groups, particularly if the app is likely to humiliate, intimidate, or place a targeted individual or group in harm’s way."

Infowars' app, which allowed users to read Infowars articles, shop, and livestream all of Jones' programming 24 hours a day, served as a window into the incendiary conspiratorial content that led to the outlet's ban from Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, and Twitter. While Apple removed Jones and Infowars from its podcast platform in early August, the company took no action against the Infowars app; nor did it explain why it was allowed to remain. It’s worth noting, however, that the Infowars app does not store content, which presumably made violations of Apple's guidlines more difficult to police.

The App Store has been a valuable platform for Infowars. The site relaunched its app on July 9, and, according to the analytics company Apptopia, it was downloaded about 93,000 times in its first month. Though it cautioned that the app is still too new to the App Store to provide definitive daily average user analytics, Apptopia told BuzzFeed News that Infowars has logged more than 600,000 hours spent in-app as of August. After Jones' ban from Facebook, YouTube, and Apple's podcast platform, the app surged to the third spot in Apple's App Store.

People, this is the end game here.

It isn't about kicking Jones off Twitter or YouTube. They never intended on stopping there. What they really want to do is kick Alex Jones and InfoWars off the internet completely.

And they're not going to stop with Alex Jones and InfoWars.

It's almost as if they're daring someone to take them on.

The Progressives are hell bent on erasing Alex Jones and Infowars completely.

The end game will be to erase everyone who is conservative or even leans right.

This is the beginning of the purge.

“Eye Of The Beholder” -Metallica

Do you see what I see?
Truth is an offence
Your silence for your confidence

Do you hear what I hear?
Doors are slamming shut
Limit your imagination, keep you where they must

Do you feel what I feel?
Bittering distress
Who decides what you express?

Do you take what I take?
Endurance is the word
Moving back instead of forward seems to me absurd

Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say

Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech
Speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception

Do you fear what I fear?
Living properly
Truths to you are lies to me

Do you choose what I choose?
More alternatives
Energy derives from both the plus and negative

Do you need what I need?
Boundaries overthrown
Look inside, to each his own

Do you trust what I trust?
Me, myself and I
Penetrate the smoke screen, I see through the selfish lie

Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say

Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech
Speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception

Do you know what I know?
Your money and your wealth
Your silence just to hear yourself

Do you want what I want?
Desire not a thing
I hunger after independence, lengthen freedom’s ring

Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say

Independence limited
Freedom of choice
Choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech
Speech is words that they will bend
Freedom no longer frees you
Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say

Well obviously they are not going to kick Jones off the DNS. They don't run that. So people will always be able to type infowars.com into their browser and get an address. Then the question is whether Jones can get a server someplace or server space. That answer to that is yes. Then can various companies block that address? It's possible but unlikely. It's way too easy to route around any block (e.g go through a proxy or use a VPN).

But the second part of your claim is correct. They will not stop with Jones. The big social media companies want to control speech on their platforms.

The goal is obviously to block conservatives from earning a living because of their ideology.

This is like the 1950’s. Joe McCarthy never banned anyone. It was Hollywood and the media, just like now.

See my previous post. It's impossible to keep anyone off the internet other than the FBI taking over someone's server or taking the infowars.com name away via the registrar.

But the big internet search services like google and the social media companies will try to make sure nobody can share his content or nobody typing parts of his content will get a hit in their search engine (they will start with a "warning" message, then claim his site is malware).

Bottom line people who know the name infowars.com are all set, can't be stopped. But any sharing like to their friends on social media will be stopped.

WTF. There are dozens and dozens of Live Psychic apps right now on the App Store. If they ban Jones for being less than the truth, why do they allow psychics and astrologists?

That remains to be seen, but hammered they will be.

This is America, with a man for president, and while they will get away with it for awhile yet, their doom is certain.

This is the beginning of the purge.

And half of our side doesn't even see it coming. The threads on here yesterday were depressing.

"Alex Jones is a loon! Good riddance!" "Did you see Congressman Billy Long throw that bitch out of the room? That was awesome!" (That "bitch" being conservative activist Laura Loomer).

Our fighters are getting fragged and people here were cheering it on.

When every last conservative has been kicked off of Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and everywhere else, some SJW activist is going to find some post here on Free Republic where someone called a tranny a "faggot" and pressure whoever is hosting FR to drop this place.

People are going to be scratching their heads, "How'd that happen?"

Get ready Jim.

Jim / John have hardware at a hosting site. That will never change (unless he wants a different hosting site). Can't be blocked or stopped.

What could happen though is that the social media companies could block any sharing of links to FR.

Individuals and corporations have the right to decide what speech and content they will allow on their wrbsites.

The First Amendment only prohibits government censorship of free speech.

What Twitter and Apple did is perfectly legal.

JimRob here doesn’t allow liberal views and DU doesn’t allow conservative views.

What speech one feels comfortable with is in the eye of the beholder.

The original design of the Internet was to be peer-to-peer without any throttling or content controls or censorship. It has been subverted. The talk has been of creating an Internet II, which will avoid the mistakes of the first attempt. Can't happen soon enough.
