The US Constitution provides instructions for how to remove a president from office if they are unfit to do their job—gravely wounded, for example, or mentally unstable. The instructions were ratified as an amendment in 1967, after John F. Kennedy's assassination. Until that point, the Constitution just vaguely referred to the fact that a president could be removed for "Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of said Office."
When can the 25th amendment be invoked for an unfit president?
Whenever the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet are ready to do so. One anonymous "senior official" wrote in a New York Times opinion piece https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/05/opinion/trump-white-house-anonymous-resistance.html that Cabinet members were afraid of "precipitat[ing] a constitutional crisis" by invoking the amendment, and instead chose to lie to the president and disobey him instead.

Rather, the 25th amendment is a part of the constitution that gives explicit instructions for how to remove a president who is unfit to serve.

I read a longish thread on a liberal site about this. They REALLY think this will happen. They actually think that Pence(!) would do this. It is amazing how out of touch with reality they are.
Also note - the VP becomes the Acting President - the President is still President. The wishful thinking with these people, along with their Constitutional illiteracy, is off the charts.

Even Cabinet members, Senators and Congress critters have to go home occasionally.
Think of current and former military, pro or semi pro hunters, and just the regular deer or Elk hunter behind a tree from 500 meters, perhaps only about 2 or 3 thousand people.
Then think about the probably more than 100 million people who own weapons and know how to use them.
No person or especially enemy politician can ever be safe if they manage to piss off that many people with an attempted coup.
There aren’t enough trained federal agents, including the military, to stop 50 million armed determined citizens who would be willing to take the shot of opportunity.
No single plotter would ever be forgotten or safe again.
I don’t think that those people and politicians that would be involved in such a plot have the conviction to risk all they have, all they ever will have, to take that chance.

These people are so stupid. If Trump is impeached, Pence becomes president. If he’s removed because of the 25th Amendment, Pence becomes president.
It’s not like it’s going to “solve” anything for them. And if either were to happen (exceedingly unlikely), the base would be 100 times more energized than it is now.

Was stirring up this rumor to invoke the 25th Amendment (and Omarosa book, and Woodward book) part of the firewall scheme as part of the overarching coup as cooked up by Brennan, Stroke, Comey, et al?

The Democrats and some Republicans believe that President Trump is unfit to do his job simply because the president is actually doing what he promised.
He is keeping his promises to the American people. Being called "unfit" because you are doing your job only makes sense to people with disordered minds. We already know, from Mike Savage, that liberals have disordered minds. You do not need Mike to tell you that; just look at the hysteria in the media and among Democrats in connection with the issue of the day.
Socialist Democrats and other leftists are enraged because Trump is carrying out what he promised the voters he would do. The Democrats have made the SAME promises only to get elected. Then they enrich themselves and grab more and more power over you.
