Trump Adviser Suggests Cruz Isn't Likable Enough to Be Re-elected
WRAL ^ | October 8, 2016 | By Alexander Burns and Kenneth P. Vogel, New York Times

President Donald Trump’s budget chief, Mick Mulvaney, expressed confidence to Republican donors Saturday that the party would overcome a Democratic “movement of hate” in November, but he acknowledged Republicans could lose races where they have nominated candidates who are not seen as “likable” enough, like Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

Thanks for posting this. I remember being emotional at the time because he didn’t endorse, but forgot how powerful the rest of the speech was. He hit Hillary and Obama HARD.

At the time I wasn’t a Trump supporter, even though, to stop Hillary I voted for him. I was upset that Trump had called my senator - who has been a strong, successful senator from my great state “Lyin’ Ted”. That was untrue. I resented that he attacked Ted’s wife and father, too. I knew that Trump had been a Democrat for most of his life, and that Hillary had come to his wedding.

I could understand Ted’s reluctance to endorse Trump under the circumstances - even though I too was upset about it. But what if things had turned out differently? We didn’t know at the time. I truthfully was thinking that we were getting another Democrat posing as a Republican who could potentially wreck the country worse than it was already wrecked. The only reason, really, that I voted for him was because I didn’t know what he would do, but I DID KNOW what Hillary would do.

Now we all (including Ted) see what a conservative hero Trump has proven to be and we are behind him like never before. Ted is not a bad guy. If Trump had been what many of us suspected, he would have been correct withholding the endorsement, while strongly explaining the imprtance of stopping the socialists.

After seeing that speech again, I am motivated to volunteer for Ted’s campaign, even though he doesn’t need me. He will win in a landslide regardless.

“Fake news” or not, there IS something unlikable about Cruz. He is way too precise about virtually everything he has to say, he carries himself with an overabundance of sincere earnestness, while at the same time coming across as a condescending know-it-all in the grip of OCD, which winds up making him fulfill the requirements of the saying “I couldn’t warm up to him if we were cremated together”. But the voters of Texas may still warm up to him, I have no way of knowing.

I’d wager there are a lot of people who feel that way about Cruz after he used a platform given to him at Trump’s nominating convention to tell people to go vote for Hillary Clinton.

I'm sure he didn't tell people to go vote for Clinton, and reasonably sure that there aren't that many voters who hold a grudge against him to the extend that they'd want to see Republicans lose the seat.

Go back and check the videotape, and you will be certain that he did.

“...But the voters of Texas may still warm up to him, I have no way of knowing.”

All we care about in Texas is how he votes. He is a strong conservative so we like him.

You are the one who needs to go back and watch the videotape because he certainly did not.

Yeah sorry, you’re in flat-out denial of the experienced reality of every witness... as the long trail of comments on that video as well as the evidence trail left right here on FR live as it was happening.

Cruz is not Mr. Warmth....But Texas didn't elect a Mr. Warmth.

They elected someone to work for the People of the Great State of Texas and Cruz fills the bill.

He'll do fine...as long as WE can get out the vote......cuz that is what the DEMS are good at.

Unless you are eligible to vote in Texas it really doesn’t matter what you think. You have the opportunity to re-watch the great speech by Cruz (where he made it clear what the stakes are for those voting for the dems - the only disappointing part was his non outright endorsement of Trump at the end - which was understandable given the circumstances) but you have declined to do so. So, unless you move to Texas and register to vote, we really don’t care what you think.

Talk about fake news—this picture hits the bulls eye. I never saw a Cruz rally look like that.It must have been before they opened the doors. Why try to damage Cruz like that?
